If you are starting out looking for a cheap set of dumbells for an ameteur to use these are the kit you need. They are made from a plastic vinyl outer shell and are very accurately weighted. The dumbell bar is metal and chromed with plastic hand grips to help increase grip and reduce blisters. The weights easily slide on and are locked into place by two plastic roll on locks. I have found that these are not very good for locking the weights and they come loose after using them for 20 reps. This can be very annoying as you have to keep tightening them during your rest period.

The dumbbell bars come in the usual thickness of 16 x 1 inch which means they are a good size to be quite comfortable when doing exercises. The weights are quite cheap to buy individually and so it is easy to expand on weight sizes the more you use them. The con to this however is that you can only fit a certain number of weights on the dumbbell so once you reach a certain weight, you will start paying over the odds for individual weights and there is a limit to what the weights go up to in mass. This means that at a certain point it would be cheaper to buy a more professional dumbbell that is locked at a certain weight. This is why I would only recommend this product to those who are starting out at low weights who want to build up fitness and strength.

The equipment is very cheap however would not be suitable for a commercial gym or for semi-pro or professional athletes. I would recommend this product to anyone who is starting out at improving strength and fitness however not for anything more.
