Corsair Flash Voyager USB 2.0 2 GB

Finally a USB stick with a well-considered design! The entire housing is made of a rubber-like material so you can easily drop the stick without damaging it. The speed is very rapid through USB 2.0 and works with Windows XP without problems and without installing drivers. With the product you get a CD with some software for recovering data, etc., a lanyard for your neck, a booklet and an extra cable if you only have a USB port on the back of your computer. Very hand and everything looks very complete.

Op the top of the USB you have a blue LED so you can monitor activity and so know when the USB is still busy with transferring data. It only comes with 2GB of space and especially today that doesn't sound that much anymore, but i have this USB stick for years now and I was sufficient for when I bought it.

Conclusion is that I finally have found a USB flash drive that meets all my requirements, fast, and completely thought out design. I think these days 2GB is not enough anymore since files are getting bigger and bigger but for me its fine to save document. It's definitely a quality product since I have it for years and it's still working! It's been a while but I think I bought this one for around 40 pounds.

A USB stick is always handy to back up your pictures, videos and documents and it's very handy when in need of having to take files with you while travelling and you don't want to take your whole laptop with you.

Sturdy pen drive big enough for today's needs.

      Corsair Flash Voyager 2GB
      Flash Drive storage

I'm addicted to these little pen drives, this is now my fourth. Starting with a 64MB one up to this 2GB model. Funnily enough I always seem to pay the same for each one, much like every PC I've bought since 1997 (every one is £1000). I bought this a couple of months ago for £90 but they are now retailing for half of that. C'est la vie.

Why do you need one of these?
If you ever use more than one PC these drives are unbeatable for holding and transferring fairly large amounts of data. They are so quick and convenient I can't imagine being without one.

      In use:
The size of a cigarette lighter, they are easy to carry around in any pocket or bag. They will work with any PC running Windows 2000 onwards with no extra software requirements. All you need to do is plug it into an available USB slot on the PC and within seconds it will be detected and displayed in the Explorer window as another hard drive. Files can be added, deleted or edited as quickly as using the internal hard drive with no noticeable difference in transfer speeds.

This model has a rubber case and a nice solid feel. It feels robust and well made where previous ones have felt flimsy and plasticky. It comes with big blue lanyard for hanging around the neck, emblazoned with Corsair Flash Voyager logos all over it. It also has a blue LED in the case to show when it is working.

I've no complaints with it's performance, as I said above it is the same as transferring and retrieving from the internal hard drive. There have been no reliabilty problems or lost data and I've had no need to test out Corsair's customer services.

      Issues:
Do you really need 2GB? I chose a large capacity model because I wanted to transfer video files. Without these files I'm using about a third of the capacity.
Being so small the risk of losing one is quite high. It is possible that going for a larger capacity will tempt you into storing more and more data with any future misplacement being that much more painful. Some models can be secured, but I never actually bother to do this. If you are the same, remember any personal data will be immediately visible to anyone who finds it.

Despite being small, these drives are usually bigger than a normal USB plug. Therefore, if your USB sockets are next to each it will block adjacent slots. Some drives come with USB extension cables but this one didn't and I would recommend getting one.

I've been very happy with this pen drive, and would happily recommend it. I'd have no worries buying Corsair products in the future.

Several reviews of the Flash Voyager products have demonstrated the ruggedness, durability, and reliability of the Flash Voyager family. The Flash Voyager has been shown laundered, baked, frozen, boiled, dropped, and even run over by a SUV in many third party reviews. After all the punishment it receives, the drive continues to work.
