A 16GB memory stick that uses USB 3.0 transfers a lot faster than a normal USB 2.0

This is the corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 16GB memory stick, I purchased this because I wanted a new memory stick and I figured that I might as well buy a USB 3.0 one. I picked this up for around £25 which from what I gathered is around £8 more than a USB 2.0 memory stick of the same capacity.

USB 3.0 boasts that it can transfer data up to 10 times faster than its predecessor, I thought I might put this to the test transferring a 1GB file to this stick and to my other 16GB USB 2.0 stick. This was indeed faster it transferred the file in around 12 -15 seconds as a pose to my USB 2.0 which transferred it in around a minute. So the results show that it is indeed much faster, maybe not 10 times faster but this figure is provisional with the computer and devices and such things. The transfer is a noticeable difference though which is always nice.

So what does this stick offer? Well its USB 3.0 as stated but what's really good about this new technology is, its backwards compatible with USB 2.0 so you can use this on pretty much any computer and don't need to worry about compatibility. The pen itself is encased in all rubber (including the cap) which is durable and shock resistant, I must say though I don't like the fact that the cap comes completely off as this is when I tend to lose it but not yet so fingers crossed.

Corsair claims that this is compatible with all versions of Windows, Mac OS X and even Linux because it doesn't require drivers. I haven't tested this one anything other than windows but it really was easy to use and it was recognised without any installation which is always nice.

Overall this is a really simple really easy to use product, I'm extremely happy with it and its not crammed with features as corsair have pretty much said hey it's a memory stick it's not all that important. It stores my files and when I'm using it on USB 3.0 it does have a much faster write speed which is nice. I've had this for a few months now and it's still looking brand new so it's definitely durable given that this has been thrown around my bag quite a lot.

I would recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade in the portable storage area there is an 8GB and a 32GB version should you want cheaper or more storage. This is an all-round great product so don't hesitate to buy.
