As always at work, the devices used in ICT are being changed all the time. The latest change has come with the flash drives we are being given to use. Each and every day the flash drive used is placed in and out of several computers, a lot of data is stored and transferred and they are quite an essential and time saving part of the job. Therefore a high performing and reliable memory stick is essential and the latest to be used, mainly for security issues are the Freecom range of Databar secure units.
We have been provided with these 8GB models which is the unit I will be reviewing.
Straight out of the box you will realise with this product that it feels much more heavier than other flash drives you may have come across, and that is coming from someone with a lot of experiences with the devices. Usually I can barely feel that the flash drive is in my pocket but with this you can feel it. This works a treat as you get the confidence that this will survive all sorts of drops.
Due to it being heavy and made out of a tough material it also has proved durable and as mentioned with the use it gets from me and other work mates it really needs to be. This is one of the toughest flash drives around.
The same can be said of the top of the device with the connector pins behind a solid sheeting and the whole connector port being protected by a tight and hard lid. I have no worries this will break and the pins will snap, as has happened before, when taking it in an out of devices. Its just ideal and as a manufactured product is second to none in terms of durability and toughness.
It is ready to use out of the box requiring no installation, connects quickly to devices and is always recognised by the systems. It is quick to store and transfer data and has so far proven to be very reliable with no corruptions and no data loss. In terms of usage and storage I have had no problems with this device.
My only one real criticism is that this has no "hook" on the back with which to attach to a key chain or neck chain as we used for older system but that is a mere trivial point given the sheer quality of this!
An excellent, tough, reliable and secure memory unit! At around £6.99 it also offers great value!
