I recently brought a new HP laptop to replace my very slow and broken old laptop and with it I got a free HP V13db Flash Drive. Being a student my USB stick is stuck with me and has to endure vigorous use, therefore a reliable and durable memory stick is essential.
As with all modern memory sticks, all the installation software is contained in the memory, allowing you to use them on any computer you plug them into. This HP memory stick completely installed in about 5 seconds, making very quick to use when in a rush. It is capable of doing all the usual functions you expect; backing up, transferring files etc and can also deal with pass worded files.
The casing is pretty solid and therefore should last me quite a few years. The major plus point with this memory stick is there is no lid, it slides back into the main section of the memory stick. This mean there is no chance of losing the lid or the USB connector bending in your pocket.
Even though I got mine in a deal, I believe the 16GB one costs about £20, and is fantastic with huge memory capacity. You will struggle to fill this during your whole time at university. There are other sizes available at different prices.
Overall this is a great memory stick I highly recommend.
Recently the place at which I work reissued all the current Flash Drives in the company. Reluctantly I had to part with my trusty flash drive of two years and take on board on a HP USB V13dw Flash Drives. The reasons were multifold, this was a bigger storage disc than the previous 2gb, they are considered safer (which is essential to the uses they receive at work) and they were bought in bulk with a deal with the manufacturer thus saving on costs.
It is perhaps important to state at this point that any USB drive used in the workplace where I am currently employed needs to be able to cope with the constant daily use it receives from being in and out of a variety of computers multiple times a day. Its not only used to store information as back up but also to transfer and access and in a n office where the main drive is restricted client use comes exclusively through this and with it not being there propriety not only do we need something that is durable but also something that is safe and can put up with being mishandled.
Suffice to say that this product fits the bill and ticks all the boxes. I have always had good experiences with the HP range and they are my first choice when it comes to laptops so really I should not have expected anything less. When first taking the drive out of the casing it feels like a solid piece of kit and seems like it will be durable. Certainly thus far I have had no issues and whereas in the pass the end of the stick, where it actually inserts into the usb port has become worn very quickly with so much use, this has not been the case. I am confident this product will last a considerable amount of time. The nifty little function of sliding the USB connector back into casing after use helps protects this especially as the product is also in and out of my pocket all day as well as being in and out of various USB ports.
Also the initial set up was done within seconds and the drive was up and running and ready to use. Once into the system its fast and responsive and there have been no data transfer issues, lost data or corrupted files thus far and all is running well.
At 16gb it can cost around £20 which is expensive but if you need the space then you need the space. It is available in other sizes at cheaper prices but its always better to cater for more than you plan when buying flash drives or even hard drives as you are always gonna run over.
All in all this is an excellent, practical and reliable product that serves my work needs well and comes fully recommended.
