What is it?

Well this flash or USB drive as they are sometimes known for but especially as a small device for storing your important files such as documents and pictures. A few years ago I lost all my files after my computer crashed. Reason enough to be careful so I save all my important files on USB sticks. But a USB stick is also handy for transferring files to another computer.

The brand

Kingston is for me a well known brand which focuses primarily on the development of memory products including for the computer. It is known as one of the largest memory manufacturers in the world. A friend of mine had experience with this brand and I've already bought the 2GB version and which I'm very happy about! I use a USB stick to store my pictures and videos and find reliability very important. I am convinced that this is a good brand and I feel assured to store my files on it.

The product

It's ultimately of course all about the product itself. The reason I bought this USB stick was because my other two were already full and could buy this one for a good price. I have another USB stick from Kingston which I am very happy with so it was not very difficult. The USB has a storage capacity of 8GB which is enough to store photos and videos. I have a slight variation of 2GB which I find more suitable mainly for documents. This USB stick comes in different colours but I got this one in yellow.
To get an idea of the size of the product, here the dimensions:
Width 38.85 mm
Depth 16.40 mm
Height 6.44 mm

The key to a USB I think that he must be very easy to use. I hate when you first must download and install drivers. This USB is prefect because you can use it right away when you put it into the computer. From that moment to can put your files on it and get it off. The speed is also very important and this USB transfer the files quiet quickly. Within a few pictures I can transfer lots of pictures about 200mb big. Note that the USB stick works with the following operating systems: Windows, Apple Mac and Linux. Check out the website of Kingston for the exact versions of the operating system.

My opinion

Why a USB stick? Because it's always good to have a back up of your files and it's definitely more handy then burning a CD or DVD because normally you can only use them once. Also the USB stick is much smaller and therefore easier to carry around. The Kingston brand is a known brand and one I trust so it wasn't difficult for to go for this USB stick. I store a lot of my pictures on this and as you can imagine I really don't want to loose these since they are good memory's. I do trust that this USB stick will not crash or suddenly decided not to work so I feel safe leaving my pictures on this one as a back-up. The speed is good and I am not a expert but as a test I transferred just 2 pictures of 8mb each to the USB stick and it literally took 2 seconds and they where transferred. Quick enough for me!
