Kingston DataTraveler Secure USB Flash drive - 8GB

      DooYoo Review - 27-10-08
Company: KINGSTON DATA TRAVELER - Secure - USB Flash Drive Storage capacity: - 8GB -
Titled: Data safe on trains planes and automobiles now!!
      - Company details -
Kingston was formed in 1987; they derived from the business storage sector from the mid 1980's. Their product knowledge and their own developed products are very well informed in regards to sustainable versatility and customer service. Their services and products cater for computers, servers and printers to MP3 players, digital cameras and cell phones. They implore a dedicated software programming team. They now encrypt sources in within their products. During 2007, the company's sales exceeded 4 billion turn-over.

      - Where are their head-quarters? -
Kingston's HQ is based in the Fountain Valley, California US - I've got from good source that the company now has a work-force exceeding 4,000. It is apparent that they have won rewards for being one of the best companies to work for in the US and are in the top 10 for employees satisfaction; which was published in Fortune magazine last year (2007) This year will no doubt prove the same. Their high performance is due to the highly popular investor in people program which applies to all ethnic workforce groups.
      - Now in the year dot -
The data storage company Kingston technology was born out of a severe shortage of portable device memory chips in the high-tech marketplace in the mid 1980s, that were at the time installed in the PC and took most of the day to process and required a full-time data programmer to install all the components direct from MSDOS, writing out all of the data text files - How times have changed! The whole process took so much time and man hours that an answer to the problem had to be made and that is where many data storage businesses started. The founders, John Tu and David Sun were a couple of the pioneers to find a data storage solution. They both put their engineering backgrounds to work and created the new 'Single In-Line Memory Module' (SIMM) it was exciting times for the new data storage company and the SIMM was where they embarked on making the fortunes'

      - Data Traveler Secure USB Flash Drive 8GB -
      - USB - the technical section -
The term USB - Stands for Universal Serial Bus - This is a standard port for computer components to be connected using a single universally read interface socket.
      - What to expect with the portable USB Flash Drive Secure 8GB? -
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------
The versatile flash drive is a key or a stick .The length is a mandatory 2 inches long with a socket at the end which goes into the USB port/hub on your PC. The PC tracks the new driver when the Flash Driver is slotted into a USB port. The device acts as an external device, and an interface is displayed which holds the external storage drive. You will be prompted whether you require a Privacy Zone or Public Zone, the Privacy Zone is the opted choice for 100% security you require this one to secure all your data. The user authenticity zone will start privacy encryption. The user (as in yourself) will then be able to create a file within this zone, passwords and usernames will be configured by you the user. Remember the codes because the next time you load the flash drive the codes will be required. When accessing all data the Kingston auto-run program will appear as normal each time to access the external flash drive. The device does allow 'drag and drop' when selecting files for encrypted data storage.

      - 8GB - size does matter -
The 8GB is a vast amount of memory and will cater for all your files including video files media files and sound files alike.
      - Flash memory -
A flash drive is now the main source to all portable memory devices and determines the transfer speed. It reads at a transfer rate of 28MB's per second and that is halved when transferring data from the key to another workstation, the more workstations used simultaneously the slower the transfer rate.

      - Price -
This Data Traveler flash drive for the 8GB is £110.99 (retail)-- 7/10 value for money.
      - U3 and Data protection -
No U3 technology to spoil your flash experience
There are no obtrusive U3 or 30 day free trial-ware application bundles to create novice confusion, allowing a full run with all software and Flash device without the hassle of being a Kingston internet member. However, due to the price above, I advise that you get a year's product insurance, so view Kingston sites terms and conditions. I do believe it is all in the price.

      -Overall verdict -
Impressive piece of portable hardware; great and easy to use without the any confusing Skpe or U3 The 8GB of capacity space is vast - You can cross-path CPU systems and I can clarify it is compatible for cross purpose platforms PC/Mac - or on Laptops.
