@ About, Storing Data @
I paid £4.99 for this pen drive, and I have had this for four months now and it has been a great companion to store data on. So far so good, i cant fault it and data storage has been perfect. I originally bought this to add to my xbox 360 storage because i was running low on space, connecting it to the 360 was easy and simple and it will meet xbox 360 performance requirements. It takes just a couple minutes to convert it to xbox 360 storage. If this is for your xbox, then perfect, its highly recommended.
I have also used half of the storage for my PC files and it holds mostly MP3s and word documents. It will instantly be recognised by Windows 2000 and Windows 7 without having to set up external drivers or run through a device wizard. It instantly starts sharing information with your PC and you can add files immediately.
Saving a few word documents to this drive takes a couple seconds and moving one document is instant. This also lets you move several files at once but i have found that its much slower than moving them one at a time. Moving eight mp3 files at the same time takes longer than one by one. Where file storage is concerned i have never had a corrupt, missing or self moved file. Everything stays where i want it and does not change. You can even create folders on the drive so you have better file organisation.
@ Build Quality @
This is quite a lightweight little device and whilst it is made entirely of plastic its quite sturdy as far as pen drives go. The back of the pen drive has writing printed on it and after four months mine has rubbed off just because of sweaty hands touching it all the time. The red coloured paint has not worn off though. The black plastic is like piano black and is very smooth to touch. I have knocked, thrown and dropped this pen drive several times and its hard to even chip it. All the components inside are still intact and it still connects without breaking down or disconnecting itself from the computer.
@ Overall @
This is a great little pen drive to have for your xbox or PC, its reliable, lightweight and good value for money. I cant seem to find anything wrong with it. Build quality is superb and its compatible with windows 2000 upwards.
I was given a SanDisk Cruzer Blade 4GB USB key for my birthday and I have been very happy with it.
It has never gone wrong. I have never lost any files through not removing it safely, or through my computer crashing, etc. I have also had no problem whatsoever with viruses. The key is small and fits in your pocket no problem at all! I think it is even a bit too small, because I sometimes lose it - but you have to make compromises, small and easier to lose or easy to find and very chunky. I'd rather go for the first option.
This USB key has gone through the washing machine 3 times now (after I left it in my pocket) and it still works perfectly! I thought I'd have lost all my files, but that wasn't the case and so I was amazed. It comes in many different colours which is good. It is very light, only a few grams, and the fact it is plastic doesn't make it look silly. It is actually quite discrete. It is only 4GB, but this is more than enough if you are only dealing with documents or pictures. I would recommend it to anyone who may be scared reliability of USBs may be an issue; this USB key is very reliable.
When it comes to flash drives, I've found that SanDisk is the most reliable of manufacturers around. I've used several different types of their products and have yet to find even one of them let me down. The latest SanDisk flash drive I bought was two of their 4GB Cruzer Blades, and I couldn't be happier.
These little gems are actually really small. Compared to my thumb, the whole thing is shorter than the length, just about as wide and not even half the thickness - and I'm not a very big person. These also weigh practically nothing, and my car key weighs less. While you won't have to worry about finding storage space, it can easily get lost. I'd suggest you clip something onto these, but you should know that the hole for this purpose is strangely positioned on an angle, so it's better to attach something flexible to it rather than a rigid ring or clip, which will get stuck when you attach it.
But that really is the only downfall of these little babies. With all that memory capacity, you can imagine just how much you can get on one of these. For instance, one of these I bought is being used exclusively to hold MP3 ripped versions of my favourite CDs (my car has a built-in USB port for the radio). So far I've put over 40 full-length CDs on this and I've just edged past the half way capacity mark. I figure that means you can get easily get between 750-900 songs on one of these, if not more! The other flash drive I bought to use as a backup for documents for my new job. I've already put well over 100 Word and PDF documents on this, as well as backed up my OneNote files, and I've hardly made a dent in the storage capacity.
But what really impresses me about these SanDisk Cruzer Blades is that they work really fast (they are 2.0 USB flash drives). When I copy files or even whole albums of music to this, it hardly takes any time to finish working - even when I copy batches of stuff. I can't imagine them working any faster!
By the way, like many SanDisk flash drives, this comes with some software included - here it is called "Club SanDisk". I never bother with these, and you can delete this stuff without affecting the way this works. Plus this works equally as well with Windows 7 as it does on Windows XP. Best of all, these are reasonably priced (mymemory.co.uk sells these for only £5.39, and play.com sells it for £5.29).
All told, this 4GB flash drive is fast, reliable and convenient. Despite it being losable (due to its small size and weight), I'll still recommend this and give it a full five stars!
