Kingston 32 GB Class 4 microSDHC
Advantages: High Quality Product
Disadvantages: Quite Expensive
I have been using this product for some time now and I have been impressed with the quality of the product. I have always previously used Sandisk for my Flash Memory needs. However, having used and been impressed with Kingston's Hard Disks I thought this was worth a punt.
~What is MircoSDHC~
For those who don't know, SDHC is a short for Secure Digital High Capacity and is essentially the same product as what it is more commonly referred to as SD storage. The main difference is that an SDHC Card can have up to 32GB of storage, compared with up to around 4GB with a ordinary SD Card. These cards are everywhere these days, in cameras and mobile phones for example.
This specific model is a Flash Memory Card with a Storage Capacity of 32GB. It is small in size, which makes it easy to carry and store when not held in a device. The dimensions are w 11mm x d 15mm x h 1mm. It is easy to mis-place these when the are not in a device and I personally have a small potch that I keep this sort of thing in when it is not being used.
You should not that the card is compatible with microSDHC host devices. However, it is not compatible with standard microSD-enabled device or readers.
The SDHC card is compatible with all the major Operating System. The ones listed on the packet are - Microsoft Windows XP SP1, Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, Microsoft Windows XP SP2, Apple MacOS X 10.3.x or later, Microsoft Windows Vista, Linux 2.6 or later. I have also used this with Windows 7 and it has worked without any issues too. The memory card also has a good read speed of 4MB per second.
The memory card comes with a card reader which has a USB connection. The memory card fit straight into the car reader. I have found this makes it very easy to take the micro SD card out of your mobile phone for example, stick in the reader and then transfer the files to or from my PC. The reader is robust, as is the memory card. I have the memory card in and out of the reader on several occasions. This is a nice additional piece of kit that is included with the memory card.
The SDHC card itself fits in any device that has a compatible micro SD card slot. It is fairly straight forward to put in and most devices have a small diagram which shows which way up and which direction the card so go. I generally find that writing on the card should be facing upwards towards you.
This product is great for using with a camera or your mobile phone or if you use the reader that the memory card comes with it makes it a great way to move videos, photos and music from one PC to another. It is a high quality product, however, at around £60 you can get cheaper alternatives from brands which are just as well established as Kingston. If you are on a budget, then I would say this product probably isn't for you.
The price is a bit of a draw back for me and that's why I am giving this 4 and not 5 stars.
Summary: Good Flash Storage with a Card Reader
