Advantages: Looks reasonable, Plastic case to protect it, Take your XBL profile anywhere.
Disadvantages: To small for anyone but the most casual of gamers.
The Xbox 360 64mb Memory Unit is a device that will act like a memory card, if you have an Xbox Core system you will need to get one of these if you want to save your game data.
Looks
The Xbox 360 memory unit is styled much like the other Xbox 360 devices and console, so have no worries it will fit right in with all your equipment! The unit itself is quite small and is quite stylish, it is an Xbox white colour and on the end it is silver and has 64MB written on it, I suppose to match the tray of an Xbox premium unit which is slightly silly as the unit will mainly be used by people with Xbox Core systems!
Included with the memory unit is a transparent plastic case which you can use to protect the memory unit from damage and prevent dust from entering it. It is nothing special but it will hold your memory unit well, a nice bonus. You also get some stickers which you can stick onto your memory unit, then write on it so you will know what game saves or data you have, which is quite handy as you wouldn't want to write on the unit itself!
Memory Unit
Installing the memory unit is extremely simply, simply plug it in to the front of your Xbox 360 console in either the memory unit A or B port, it will then be detected and ready for use. You can use the memory unit to store your Gamer profile which is used to access the Xbox Live service, I use this feature most as it allows me to easily transport my gamer profile with me when I'm visiting someone with an Xbox 360, the advantage of this is I will be able to access all my purchased content on another Xbox. I could bring my hard drive with me but that is big and bulky, the advantage of the memory unit is that it is small.
Being small in another area is this memory units flaw, it has a measly 64mb of space available which is enough for a few game saves but some games like The Orange Box take up 10mb per save so you may only be able to save a few titles to your memory unit. If you like the Xbox Live Arcade service you will be disappointed as you will only be able to purchase the older games, that is because there was a limit on the size of Xbox Live Arcade games of 50mb enabling people with memory units to download them. Newer games have a 150mb limit so therefore won't fit on your memory unit. If you want demos, trailers and movies this device is definitely not for you.
Price & Conclusion
If you are a very casual gamer and only own a few Xbox 360 titles and are not interested in Xbox Live content this memory unit should suffice for you. If you like to take your profile with you to access your content from other places this device is great and I recommend it highly, for everyone else either go with the new 512mb Memory Unit or better yet purchase one of the Hard Drives which offer much more storage for the amount you pay. It's a pity Microsoft don't allow you to use a basic flash drive as a memory unit as they are much cheaper for what you get, the 64mb Memory unit will cost you a whopping £20 a flash drive of the same cost will be at least 2GB. I managed to snag mine off eBay for £10 which I felt was reasonable, but I definitely would have passed this up if I had to pay full price. 3/5
Summary: An overpriced basic storage device for your Xbox 360.
