If you have a digital SLR camera and like to shoot in RAW+JPEG mode, or if you use a digital video camcorder, you're going to need all the space you can get, at a decent speed and with reliability you can count on. That's where the 16GB PNY SDHC memory card comes in. I own a 4GB SD card, but that just wasn't big enough sometimes. On my digital SLR camera with a 12 megapixel sensor, using RAW (original uncompressed photo file) and JPEG mode can make each shot take up around 20 megabytes each. This soon adds up, and I was filling that card quit easily. So I opted to buy this card, but was unsure how reliable and fast it would be after trusting my Sandisk for so long. I had no need to worry, as it has never corrupted or given me any issues whatsoever. Furthermore, even though I don't format my card very often, I have thus far never filled it up. 16 gigabytes really is a huge amount of storage, and would probably only be used up easily by long periods of high definition video recording. At the end of the day, a memory card is a memory card, and there's only so much you can analyse about it. Does it do the job? Flawlessly. At a decent price too; mine was £17.99 quite a while ago on sale. If you need a high capacity, fast SD card then you can't go wrong with this offering from PNY.
Intro Storage cards are pretty much all the same right? Wrong. Your requirements may be music for instance, but is it compressed? And by how much? Video? Different again. Lots of portable devices these days use removable storage paricularly cameras and HD cams. It makes sense then to go for a quality card with the most storage you can afford. Why make do with 4Gb and regret it later on your world tour? Tech spec: 16Gb Read speed 9Mb/s Write speed 5Mb/s SDHC SDMI encryption 24*2.1*32mm MTBF 1,000,000Hrs Performance: Personally I find it very difficult to judge this as data is moved so fast plus it is likely that no two cards will be exactly alike. What I can say with certainty is that I have had no compatibilty issues and the card has been reliable. Prices do vary a great deal so take your time looking. Summary: Fast and reliable and with a claimed life of 1m hours. Good value at that too.
