This is a great little memory stick! I use it in my PSP and it has loads of memory to store game saves, Music, films and pictures on! I can store about 500 music tracks on it and still have enough memory left for other things like full length films to watch when I'm on the move. This card is also a lot cheaper than the official sony memory which is exactly the same but you pay for the 'Sony' bit in it...The speed is great in this little memory card, It transfers music and pictures lightening fast. It takes around 5 seconds to transfer a music track and around 2 seconds for a picture, It really is that good! The quality in this card is great, It is very small but the build quality feels excellent. It comes in a handy carry case incase you take it out and don't want to loose it.
These days technology just keeps getting better and better, when i first saw this card i was amazed at the capacity yet the small size - its the size of the first joint of your finger and has the capacity to put upto 2 full movies onto it (DivX).
This card goes inside my phone, and i use it to store pictures, movies, and also music. The copying capacities are really good, its a fast card when i put it into my computers card reader i can copy files onto it with ease. As its a well known card type you will be able to find card readers for your computer with no problems at all.
Overall i think this is a really good card, it has many uses as long as you have the device, fast, and reliable, i would highly recommend it to anyone who has use for this type of card.
Me and my best friend both have one of these, and both for different reasons. He has his for his music phone, and i use mine for more photos and films. Both of us cant complain at all, he has got 180 songs and still over 1.2gb left to use up, and this is with videos of him and his friends at concerts and about 400 photos.
Me on the other hand, i have over 600 photos and roughly 6 hours of film on my phone and although i thought 2gb was mabye over the top in terms of size, it was so cheap to buy i may as well have the bigger memroy capacity even if i wasnt going to use it all. I couldnt complain about this at all, because i can get it into my phone with a click, and i dont have to get any expensive laptop add-ons, just use the phone cable.
Have you ever wanted to store your pictures, videos, music and documents without having to delete some of the items on your memory card?
Have you ever wanted to transfer your videos, documents, pictures and music faster without having to waste time? Have you ever wanted something small to store hundreds or even thousands of all your files in? If the answer is yes then this SanDisk 2GB memory Pro Duo is for people like you.
If you read my Sony Ericsson review you would know that I got a K750i model and I was already planning to buy a memory card for it which has a bigger memory than it came with (64MB).
When I bought the memory stick, I could not wait to upload all my music to my mobile. I took out my old memory stick out and inserted my small looking 2GB Pro Duo Memory stick.
I connected my mobile to the Laptop using the USB 2.0 connection. I went to my music files and started transferring music to my mobile. You will not believe how fast it was on transferring. I finished transferring hundreds of music in less than 40 minutes which is amazing.
The memory card finally got full and my mobile now had 456 (to be more specific on number and yes I am a music fan) MP3 music files on it.
Now I walk around with my mobile listening to music (I mostly listen to my mp3 player though only listen to my mobile when I have run out of battery or when I forget the MP3 player at home).
Of course it is said that you can store up to 500 MP3 songs but I guess my songs had a big memory which took up lots of space. However if I had used WMA format I would have saved over 900 songs onto my card but unfortunately I can not because my mobile does not support WMA format.
You can also take out the memory stick and insert it in your laptop or computer if the have an SD slot integrated on them. By doing this you can just transfer your file from and unto the memory stick and put it back in you mobile.
If you buy the memory stick for your digital camera, you can buy a printer with an SD slot. All you do is take the memory stick out the camera and insert it in the printer and print of your pictures.
Of course you can still print your pictures by transferring them onto the computer but it is just easier to buy the printer with an SD slot as you do not have to turn on you computer and wait for it to load etc.
If you are using the memory stick for a 2 Mega Pixel Camera the memory card will store over 2200 pictures.
If you adjust the camera to 3 Mega Pixel, the memory card will hold just about 2000 pictures, which is quite a lot still.
5 mega Pixel cameras will hold just about 800 pictures, 8 mega pixels will hold over 550 pictures and a 10 Mega Pixel Camera the memory stick will hold over 400 pictures but less than 450 which is a lot for a 10 mega pixel camera.
If you are using the Memory stick for storing video clips then you can store up to two full movies, which is around four hours in total for video clips. I worked this out in a logical way because I have stored two full movies on my memory stick to transfer from one computer to another and it only took two full movies at a time and each movie plays for about 2 hours which add to four hours of videos if they are two.
The memory stick is very easy to use really; it has an arrow printed on it which shows you the way it should be inserted into the product you are going to be using it in. Some products do tell you if you have inserted the memory card the wrong e.g. with my Sony Ericcson K750i when I tried to insert the memory stick the wrong way it would not go in the whole way, which gives you a sign that you are doing it wrong. With a few cameras it will do the same or the memory stick might go in but when you turn on the camera it will not show you that the memory card has been inserted meaning that you have to take out the memory stick and insert it the right way till the camera reads the memory stick.
Ejecting the memory stick from a mobile is very easy. All you have to do is open the cover were the memory stick and just push it in and the memory stick will push its self up and you just have to finish it off by taking it all out of course. This is the same with many PCs and cameras. With some objects you have to slide it out or click the eject button and it will do it all for you.
Deleting files from the memory stick is even faster than transferring the files unto the memory stick. All you have to do when deleting the files is, either delete via your product e.g. mobile, camera, PSP etc by going onto the option and select delete, to delete the item you.
If you are using the computer you just open the memory stick folder and click the item you want to delete and press the delete button and the file will be gone on the blink of an eye.
Since I bought this Memory stick just over a month ago I have not yet had any problems with it. One problem I could say it has is that the memory stick is very small therefore if you drop it or miss-place it, it is going to be hard for you to find it. Therefore I suggest you keep it in sight all the time when it is not in the product.
The durability of the memory stick is really. (How do I know if I only had this memory stick for just over a month?) Well the product comes with a five year manufacture warranty therefore; they expect it to last for five years the least that is why they have given nit a five year warranty. Moreover, I do trust SanDisk as a brand as they have been around for some years now and I have never encountered any problems with any of their products I have bought in the past.
----------PRICE & PACKAGING
I bought this memory card in one of those mobile street phone shops (non brand shops that fix mobiles, unlock and sell extra accessories for mobiles) for £25.00 I was going to be the 1GB at £15.00 but I just thought a 2GB was a bargain as I saved £5.00. I did thought about buying the 4GB one as well but it was rather expensive for my budget but cheap though in other matter at £35.
At first because I wanted to buy it from Currys the 1GB was costing £24.99 which is the same price as the 2GB one in the mobile street shops, well £24.99 is one penny less of course.
The memory card also came with the memory adapter which is helpful to those who have old versions of Sony products.
The memory card was in a black thick plastic cover with all the details written on the back on how to use the memory Card. The instructions are written in a few different languages for those who can not read or understand English.
When I took out the Pro Duo memory card from the packaging it was baby blue in colour and had writings on it to tell you what it was SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo, Magic Gate 2.0GB this is basically to tell the consumer that it is a SanDisk 2GB memory stick with a built in magic gate, in case if they lose the packaging. The memory stick is plastic on the outside and is soft to the touch. On the other side of the memory stick it basically tells you which country the memory stick was manufactured in (China) and there is this code of numbers which is basically a manufacture code, there is also a white patch under it, you could possibly use this white patch to label the Memory stick with your name or to write down what is stored in the memory stick if its not going to be used to store different kind of files. E.g. you can just write videos, pictures, or music in case if you have many of these memory sticks (makes it easy to identify your files).
On this side of the memory stick you can also see the magic gate (chips).
This 2GB Pro Duo memory card is compatible with many Sony Ericsson mobiles including of course my K750i, W810i, W800i, W850i, Z800, D750i, W660i, etc.
The memory card is compatible with all Sony PSPs and it is good to have a 2GB memory card with your PSP as you can save lots of media and documents unto.
You can also use the memory card with many Sony cameras and digital cameras that are compatible with Pro Duo though. The 2GB memory card also comes with a memory card adapter which basically lets you use the 2GB Pro Duo memory card with many old versions of Sony Products that takes in memory cards.
If you are not sure if you product is compatible with this SanDisk Memory stick just ask the sales advisor in the shop you are buying it from, otherwise you are going to have problems if its not compatible.
---For files to transfer quicker to and from your computer it is best that you use USB 2.0 connection on your computer or laptop.
---You can buy This 2GB Memory Pro Duo in many electrical shops or mobile shops e.g. Comet, Car phone Warehouse, PC World, Jeffersons, Argos, Tesco, Dixons, Phones 4 u , T-Mobile, Virgin, Orange, 02, Vodafone and Sony Shop etc. You can buy it either online or offline.
---It comes with a five year Warranty; therefore if anything goes wrong with it just send it back to the manufacture.
---When you insert the memory card into your gadget make sure you can use were the arrow is pointing, you have to insert pushing it to the direction were the arrow is looking. If you cant see the arrow it basically means you are inserting the other way round... The side with the arrow normally goes in first before the rest of the memory card.
---You can also get this Memory stick Pro Duo in different memory capacity. You can get one with 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, and 4GB (I am not sure if they have an 8GB capacity though it was said to be published but in another format which is not Pro Duo but M2).
---They all come in baby blue colour except for the 4GB capacity which comes in a navy blue colour.
---You do need a scissors when opening the packaging as the plastic is too thick to open by hand (if you rate your self strong then go ahead, but I am the sort of person who hates to say I told you so, but will still say it).
---Do not drop the memory stick in water to avoid electrical shocks and to also avoid the chips in the memory card from rusting which will result in the memory stick not working.
I think the 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo is very easy to use and would recommend it to all those people who are looking for a memory card that is fast and reliable. If you have a PSP you should be looking to by this 2GB memory stick to make your PSP even more entertaining.
I hope this review is very helpful to the buyers and please do not hesitate to leave your comments.
