Advantages: cheap, extra storage

Disadvantages: Very small and very light, easy to lose, a litle slow

Recently a new type of memory card came out, it is called M2. M2 means memory stick micro and this type of memory card is specifically for use in devices such as mobile phones. However one of the first problems this type of card will encounter is that it can only be used in sony ericsson phones currently.

The M2 memory card is very small and it is only about the size of a fingernail so you can release just how small this little memory card is. It weighs only a couple of grams at the most. With the memory card being so small it is something that would be very easy to lose because you cannot feel it in your pocket. Although it's very small and extremely light the M2 is well made for it's size and is perfect for small mobile devices.

On the M2 you can store all sorts of different file types and on mine I like to store music and pictures as well as other things like videos and games as well as different themes for my mobile phone. The one thing I find with the M2 is that because it is hidden away in my phone I never forget it or lose it because I can just leave it in my phone. The 4gb card is excellent due to the high storage capacity and it allows me to have lots and lots of pictures as well as several 100's of songs and also a lot of other things. Due to the fact that I bought a 4gb M2 memory card I haven't bothered buying a seperate mp3 player because the there is no need thanks this great little storage device.

If I had to have one moan about this type of card it would be that the M2 can be a little slow sometimes especially when the card is full up. Although this can be a little annoying it never usually takes the card more than five seconds to fire up so it really isn't a big problem.

You can get the M2 in several different sizes, it comes as 512mb, 1gb, 2gb and also recently sandisk started making 4gb M2 cards. The cards are also very good value as a 2gb card costs around £15 and a 4gb card costs around £30 which is a similar price to what other formats of storage card cost.

So the cost is good, it provides extra storage for your multi media on your phone and it is relatively cheap so I would have to give the M2 card a 4/5 for how good it is.

Summary: good little memory card for a mobile phone
