SanDisk M2 Memory Card 512MB
Firstly, I am not very 'tech minded' in the sense of knowing the detailed specs of things so I will be reviewing this memory card from a 'me' point of view and detail to you the parts that I do understand and make regular use of so therefore have user experience of.
Looks wise the SanDisk M2 memory card pretty basic and like your standard memory card. It is black in colour and simply says 'SanDisk M2 512 MB' on the front of it in small white lettering. The reverse of the card is plain black with only the components strip showing.
I bought this memory card around 5 or 6 years ago when I had an old Sony Walkman mobile phone and this was the required memory card. The card itself measures a tiny 1cm x 1.5cm making it very easy to loose if you don't keep it in your device!
Using the SanDisk M2 is a very simple process. All you need to do is simply insert the device into the memory card slot on your preferred device, in my case it was a mobile phone. On my phone the card fitted nicely into a slot on the side of the phone and was protected by a tiny piece of plastic covering it, the card was held in place pretty tight by the phone so I never really worried too much about loosing it.
Once in place I found that I needn't do anything more with my memory card as the phone did it all for me so it was nice and hassle free.
The speed this memory stick operates at is quite fast when I was using it in my phone. I found that I could take a photo and it would be saved instantly, I'm not sure if this is to do with the phone or the memory card to be honest but I was simply happy that there was no delay.
512MB of memory is tiny these days, just like the actual size of this memory card! The phone I was using this card in was one of the old Sony Walkman phones with a 1.3 mega pixel camera. I found that for this amount of memory space I could actually save quite a lot of photos, around the 200 mark and about 10 to 20 songs depending on the file sizes. At the time this was ample space for me.
Removing the Data
Due to the miniscule size of this memory card making it impossible to insert it into my memory card slot on the laptop I used to use my mobiles' USB cable to remove and add files to the card. This was a simple process though and my laptop always picked up on the cards' presence over the actual mobile with ease.
The main drawback of this memory card for me is it's incompatibility with memory card slots and newer mobile phones and as I no longer have the said phone I am now left with just the memory card and a slight curiosity as to what is still on it! Maybe one day I will search eBay for one of the many memory card readers but at the moment its not high on my list of "to do's"
According to Dooyoo's description the memory card does come with an adapter included, but this was not always the case as at the time I purchased my card I had a choice of purchasing with or without the adapter. I suggested the product as Memory Card only to Dooyoo and this is where they informed me I should put my review.
For such a tiny card the SanDisk M2 is pretty durable and feels quite strong and as if it would take a reasonable force to break it, I'm not going to try though!
So far I haven't had any problems with the SanDisk M2 other than not being able to see what is on it now I don't have the phone I was using it with, but this is no fault of the card as I know I can buy a card reader if I really want to view the contents.
I can't remember how much I paid for this card all those years ago. A quick check on eBay shows me they are selling at auction from 99p or Buy it Now from £2.73 plus postage.
Overall I would recommend the SanDisk M2 if you have a compatible device, it has been a reliable card for me and I've never had any issues with memory loss... well, on the card at least! You may need to buy a bigger sized memory though as I don't think this would hold much these days with the technological advances!
Thanks for reading :)
