Advantages: Very Quick & Cheap

Disadvantages: N/A

I bought the Sandisk Extreme III 4Gb SD due to the quality of the 2Gb version made by the same company which I also own.

I assumed that if my 2Gb version was speedy, the 4Gb version would be equally quick. But was I right?

...Absolutely...

Like it's little brother, the 4Gb version uses 'ESP' technology. This stands for 'Enhanced Super-Parallel Processing' - I'm not really sure what this means, but it's probably tech jargon for "it's fast".

With a minimum 20MB per second read and write speed, this product is quick enough to use for hi-def video capture and continuous DSLR shooting.

Therefore, if you're a serious photographer, or your current card is a bit slow for your liking, give the Sandisk Extreme a go - it will speed you up no end!

The Extreme III certainly looks the business, with a stylish black and red design - not that design is important in a product of this type!

The card will apparently work in extreme temperatures ranging from -13F (-25C) to 185F (85C). This sounds impressive, but it's a claim i'm not going to test. Anyway, I take the majority of my photos here in the UK rather than in Antarctica or the Sahara desert.

I'm not saying it's as good as my other card of choice - the 'Lexar Pro 133x' (which i've also reviewed), but it's a close run thing, and the speed of both devices is very similar.

I would highly recommend the Extreme III as a reliable and very speedy SD.

It can be purchased from Amazon for £13.84. I find these prices quite amazing, as when I was getting into photography around five or six years ago, even a 1Gb card card cost over £150! How times have changed!
