I decided to go with a Sandisk product as it was recommended to me, for being one of the best SD cards on the market. I then found this particular cheaper with Tesco, and decided to go ahead and purchase it - and I wasn't disappointed!
The product --> The product came in a clear packaging, not bigger than an A5 piece of paper - and it was in a clear plastic case. (which is handy to store previous ones as spare). The memory card is suitable for use in most cameras as it is as SD card, and now most laptops come with SD slots - so this is great for quick transfer. This particular on is an 'Ultra' which is stated at the top of the card, and the logo is at the bottom. It then has the amount of memory next to the name. It is tiny (like they are) not much bigger than a 50p and quite thin (but this is the same for all SD cards so if you are familar with them anyway, you will recognise the size and shape).
I have a high speed mega pixel camera, and enjoy taking fast snaps - so a fast paced memory card to keep up with this demand was exactly what I needed. Here is a short list of features it has which fit what I am looking for:
-Is able to capture rapid photos fast, and is ready within mili seconds
- It has a write speed of 9MB per second plus a read speed of 10MB per second - which is exactly the kind of professional ability I want for my photos
-It also is advanced so that features on my camera (like fast speed shooting, and beauty shots) are able to be carried out with such a capable memory card
-It doesn't use much power - so the camera lasts even longer than usual - but gain better quality from it
I really do recommend these cards, especially the ultra as they really do offer fantastic quality for just regular customers who might not have £500 cameras, but still want to take great quality photos.. like me!
This memory contains:
For a 4mb camera without a compressed flash it will take around 500 photos, and on my camera (12mp it takes around 120. However, I use this one as my spare to take out in case I lose mine, or sometimes to carry around to the photo shops so I can print off a select few quicker. I usually use a 4gb one (which is quite new - but still sandisk ultra) that gives me just over 1000 photos.
Cost --> At the moment I found this memory card in Tesco for £7, but it retails around £8-10 on the internet - it is best to shop around!
Fantastic quality of memory card.
Sandisk make quality products, that last. This is no exception. It's high speed, high quality with good build quality and is very reliable. However, it is more expensive than other brands, but it is worth it.
First, the packaging is easy to read, with clear text that has all the information you need. It also protects the product, but is very hard to open with thick plastic that can't easily be with scissors. If you try to put it apart, it is stiff and you can cut yourself. The included instructions are clear and easy to read, but also include everything you need to know. The warranty is good, and shows the trust Sandisk have in the product.
The design is really good, as it is simple and modern. It is also a small size to make it portable. That addition of a a USB port is also good, as it means you can use it will all of your devices, even if your computer doesn't have an SD card slot. However, the plastic you lift up is very thin and flimsy, which means that SD connector could come off, and it can't be used with SD devices.
The build quality, apart from the thin connector is really good. It is built to last, with the SD card hard to snap. Also, with a brand like Sandisk, the hardware can be trusted. The SD card feels like it will last. This makes it a better buy than similar products, as it feels like it will last longer and you won't have to keep on replacing it.
The product is also faster than other products on the market. It isn't the fastest, but it's perfect for the main use - pictures. They can be read easily, and also written to the drive in hardly any time. It's about right for the capacity, as it won't take too long to fill the drive. It's easy to use, and easy to delete unwanted items in a few clicks.
The product may cost higher than similar products, but as it has a higher build quality, and comes from a trusted brand, it is worth it.
Overall, another great product from a trusted brand. It's perfect for pictures, and the USB connector also means you can use it in devices that don't have a SD card slot.
I bought this memory card for my Sony digital camera after reading a lot of positive reviews about it, and in my opinion is one of the best memory cards I have owned.
The card can hold over 400 'fine' quality photos from my camera, which is more than enough for me. Obviously, there is the 2Gb or 4Gb option available if you feel you need more memory. It has around a 9Mb / second transfer speed, which means that the camera can take multiple shots without any delay in between. The transfer rate between the camera and the pc is super fast too, thanks to the card. Viewing pictures and videos on my camera is also both fast and smooth.
In summary, this SD card does exactly what it is supposed to, with the minimum of fuss and at high speed. I have yet to encounter any problems with the card, and comes at a very competitive price. I highly recommend this card as a top quality, high performance memory card.
