Advantages: Various functions, looks good, compact
Disadvantages: Slightly loud
We were bought our Kenwood food processor just last month as an anniversary present, but already its become one of the most used appliances in our kitchen!!
Looking cool and sleek, this silver and black processor looks great, but it is also compact, which makes storing it easier than some of the bigger and lukier processors. It comes with various attachments and blades, a lot of these can be stored in the processor while its not in use, although they dont all fit, so I have them tucked away in a draw.
I couldnt believe all the things this processor claims to be able to do, so we had to give as many of them a try as we could!
There are seperate attachments allowing this processor to be able to - grate, shred, slice, whisk, chop, blend and juice. As well as all these for the processor, theres also the liquidiser jug.
The main processor holds up to 0.8 litres - it may be slightly small for our family of 5, but its quick enough that I can do things in 2 halves without lots of waiting around. Its easy enough to switch all the attachments as they slot in the middle, and theres also a very clear instruction leaflet that shows you how to change them if you do struggle. Before you can use the processor, the bowl has to be locked into place, and the lid also locks in too, so if it the processor doesnt start, its highly likely its not locked into place properly. I did find this a bit fiddly trying to get everything in the right way the first time, but after that its easy to remember where everything is supposed to click into.
The first thing we did was to simply grate cheese! I thought maybe this was a bit lazy, but we put the attachment in, fed a block of cheese into the tube, push down the 'lid', and half a blcok of cheese was grated in seconds with hardly any mess at all as it was neatly caught in the bowl!
I have chopped veggies, made sauces, soups, whisked eggs, made smoothies and juiced oranges in this processor - all have been done so simply, quickly, and best of all I have managed to get them to come out exactly how I wanted them. I dont like my soups, or smoothies lumpy or bitty, and using the liquidiser they come out lovely and smooth, just how I like them.
Even cleaning doesnt take too long. The bits easily click apart and wash really well, we dont get lumps of leftovers stuck in awkward nooks and crannys, everything has just simply wiped off.
The liquidiser jug does not have to stay on the processor unit, it can be moved, and theres a little cover to go over the space it goes to make it safe if you are using the processor without it. Just to give a rough guide as to how much the liquidiser holds, I made some smoothine for me and my hubby and we got about 2 pint glasses full out of it.
My processor is left out, stored safely on the side as it is usually used on a daily basis, but there is a cord holder on the back which you can wrap the electrical cord around to make storage a little easier. It would take up a big space in a cupboard, but compared to other nes, not as much as you would think.
It is slightly on the loud side, I often have the kids complaining about the noise it makes, so I have to shut the kitchen door so its not as loud in the other room!
As this was bought as a gift, I have no idea how much it cost, but looking at Argos, its currently retailing there for £39.99, and in my opinion this little beauty is worth every penny. I never had a processor before and never thought I had use for one, but now I couldnt be without it! It even makes easy jobs just really simple, and its now an essential part of my kitchen!
Summary: Great appliance to have!
