Excellent product for the space-limited but enthusiastic cook.

First, a little background: I love cooking, but am limited by the fact I have a tiny galley kitchen. Looking for a food processor, I couldn't justify sacrificing a third of my available workspace for a full-sized one. Therefore, this Magimix Le Micro was a perfect compromise - it takes up less space than four average size cups in a square pattern and fits easily in a cupboard.

It's perfect for chopping most things (such as onions, garlic, ginger) so is great for quickly making spice pastes. It also copes with making small amounts of pastry (I can generally make enough for a quiche for 4). Good for making a lazy mayonnaise and other sauces. It also can do cheese, but be careful: I burnt out the motor of my first one of these (after only a few weeks) by asking it to chop a wedge of parmesan; however, it does work with smaller amounts. Also, be careful if putting in spices dry, as I processed some toasted cumin seeds and now the plastic bowl has scratch marks (I know, I should have used a pestle and mortar but I'm space-restricted and a bit lazy!). Despite being made out of plastic it does seem durable and well made (feels solid).

The only disadvantages that I can think of are as follows: The motor is quite noisy (but, come on, it's a food processor!). Also, for those times that you don't want things properly processed but rather shredded, it would be nice if it had a little disc attachment for shredding (which I know the larger Magimix's have). Finally, a tiny gripe, I don't really like having to hold down the button to have it chop continuously - it can get rather tedious when trying to get a paste very fine; I would prefer having an "on/off" button and a pulse button.

Overall, I would say that this is a great buy and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys cooking but might not have the space for (or want to commit the money to) a full sized food processor. Four stars - I've taken one off for the lack of a shredding disc.
