Russell Hobbs 14568 Mini Food Processor
Advantages: Easy to use, small and compact, powerful, helps you cook from scratch!
Disadvantages: None that I have found with this model
I recently went on a cupcake decorating course, I loved every second of it and it really did get me back onto the idea of being creative with cooking again. I have always enjoyed cooking and if I am honest, I am just too lazy sometimes and take the quick and easy route. With the cupcakes in mind I decided to make myself some butter cream icing and with that I used my trusted Russell Hobbs Mini Food Processor. I have had this product for some time now and think I have not reviewed it as I have not used in in such a while but now it is back out of the worktop and here are my thoughts.
The Food Processor cost me just £17.99 from Amazon which I think is a fantastic price. I must point out that it is well worth shopping around for the item as you really can find some good deals. If you look to get the product from an electrical retailer like Curry's you will be looking at paying about £35.00 so for me Amazon was the better deal but do have a shop before you make the purchase.
I have had a few Russell Hobbs products in the past and always been impressed with the brand, this one being no different! The mini Food Processor came in a cardboard box and once opened there is a small instruction booklet as well as a one year manufacturers guarantee. I did have a brief look at the booklet but this product really is easy to operate and self-explanatory to use. Contained within the box is the bowl for the mixer, the lid for the bowl, the mixer itself and the blades. As I mentioned, it is all quite easy to put together as the motor simply fits over the glass bowl and then you are pretty much read y to plug in and go.
The motor on this is 200 watt so I think that it is pretty powerful and once you press the black switch down then the motor will all be ready and running and you can start cooking! When I first had this appliance I was using it for things such as making sauces and dressings but I have found that if I make multiple but smaller batches of things then this is so much easier than getting my great big food processor out. I really like my food processor but this product makes life really quick and easy and I must say that using it again encourages me to cook from scratch that little bit more.
The food processor's blades seem to cut through the ingredients really well, that said I do tend to use quite soft mixtures and ingredients, the sauces, icing and dressings are all made from lighter ingredients and I can see why this smaller device may struggle when it comes to harder based foods. The food processors bowl is also really good for the size.
I have found that the glass bowl is really sturdy in the mixer and even though this product is smaller, it is actually really sturdy. The mixer sits really well on your work top and I would say it is about 10 inches in height so it is a great height to be working with.
Once you have made all of your sauces or your mixtures, the mixer is really easy to keep clean and this means that it maintains its quality. The product is dishwasher safe, it helps with the bowl being made from glass and not plastic as it can be popped straight into the dishwasher if you are fortunate to have one.
Overall, as I am sure you can tell, I have been really pleased with this piece of equipment. It is a good investment, especially as it is low priced and it is not a huge piece of kitchen equipment so won't take all of your storage space. The product works quickly and efficiently and is also really safe.
I give this 5 out of 5
Thank you for reading
Summary: A great food processor, even if it is half the size!!!
