Disadvantages: Staff trying to push dodgy health magazines on to disinterested customers

Holland & Barratt, as advertised by that nice Kim Wilde, is one of those places not usually patronised by people addicted to McDonald's or fried Mars Bars. The accent is firmly on the 'healthy' alternative to anything that hardens your arteries within a proximity of about 500 metres.

The range of foodstuffs and supplements is quite extensive, including some grub in the frozen food section usually down near the bottom end of the store. That includes things like Quorn sausages and other types of meat substitute, which may be palatable for some hardy souls, but I confess to not liking it very much.

There's more to H & B than that of course, including a comprehensive range of health foods supplements like various types of multi vitamins, Gingko Biloba, 'sexual health' products, proteins, fish oils including the now ubiquitous Omega 3, and suchlike.

H & B seem to be on a more or less permanent stock clearance programme, with 'better than half price' offers on things like 'cleanse your colon' and 'fat metaboliser' tablet products and so on.

So, if you're health conscious and want to lose or, gain! weight, then they have something for you. Including the redoubtable Farmer's Honeyblend herbal smoking mixture for cancer stick addicts trying to kick the habit. What more do you need?
