Advantages: Luxury treat, unusual and delicious flavours
Disadvantages: price, calories!
I have very recently re-discovered Hotel Chocolat. Years ago my dad was given a massive box of them for Christmas and they were fab but so expensive that i never even bothered to go in the shop.
However just before this Christmas i decided to go in and buy a couple of nice chocolate presents for friends.
They chocolates are expensive but if you are giving it as a gift people will usually know that they are a luxury product and not just a box of something you picked up in Tesco.
The boxes of chocolates are expensive - and the smallest box containing only four or 5 chocolates is still about £5 if i remember correctly.
Whilst in the shop buying a couple of presents i decided to treat myself - they have selector boxes which are 6 chocolates just very simply packaged and not gift packaged or boxed in any way but this makes them cheaper.
They are on offer at the moment I think £2.50 each (or maybe its £2.95) but 3 for 2. So of course it makes sense to buy 3!!
Well on the recommendation of two shop assistants on seperate occasions i bought 2 lots of the lemon cheescake chocolates and they are just to die for! If you like lemon and cheesecake then you have to buy these chocolates! They are white chcolate with a subtle but creamy and lemony tasting filling - it really does taste almost like a baked lemon cheesecake. Honestly - try them, they are very different to your average chocolate.
The other favourite I have discoverd which i think is a Christmas special one - is red wine and pear. Very boozy but you can also taste the pear and these come in milk chocolate. I bought some with the intention of sharing with people at work but made the mistake of buying them on a Friday so had scoffed the lot by Sunday sadly for my waistline and so no one else had the chance to try them!
Hotel Chocolat do many different flavours but i definatley reccommend going for the selector boxes to find out which ones are your favourites - they have caramel ones, chilli flavour, variations on coffee/ cappucino etc and more unusual flavours too.
If you do take a trip to Hotel Chocolat and you are only going to buy one thing though - make it the Lemon Cheesecake ones! You won't regret it!
