Hotel Chocolat (refered to from here as hc) is a high-class chocolate store, like thornton's but nicer! They sell many different varieties of chocolate, including unusual combinations such as dark chocolate with chilli powder. They do large and medium sized boxes of chocolates, like a traditional chocolatier, but they are also reknowned for ...  Read the complete review

Here's a nice shop! Just the name on its own will make most women melt, and I suppose that's half the fun! Really this is a shop aimed at women. Why? Because it's full of chocolate, and it plays on the image of a hotel. I mean, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but this is NOT a hotel! You can't stay here, you can't book a room! No, the name is all ...  Read the complete review

When our new mall opened in Plymouth, I was dying to take a walk around the new chocolate place, Hotel Chocolat. When the crowds had died down I went in and had a good look around. I fell in love with the place instantly and although I don't make a habit of buying form there, I do pick up the odd treat every now and again. The shop is ...  Read the complete review

Hotel Chocolat is both an online and a high street Chocolatier. There are only about 40 stores nationwide, with a few more branches housed as concessions in John Lewis department stores, so I first discovered them online at www.hotelchocolat.co.uk The concept of Hotel Chocolat began over 15 years ago, very similar to Willy's wonky ...  Read the complete review

Hotel Chocolat is one of my favourite places to buy unique and delicious chocolate - i think it's far better than Thorntons in range and price and i absolutely love it! Chocolat! It is a very classy place to shop, comparable with the best shopping you will find on the continent. The decor and lighting is just right, you could almost be on the Champs Elysees to do your Chocolat shopping. Your Assistant will help you with knowlegible comments on the origins, tastes and suitability of each selection for ...  Read the complete review

A hotel, made out of chocolate? Hotel Chocolat - Hotel Chocolat is a British luxury chocolate brand founded over 15 years ago by Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris. It started as a catalogue based business and now has a number of outlets across the country. Walking into a Hotel Chocolat shop is an adventure in itself. The ...  Read the complete review

I really am on a sweet trip today! Ok, when i first went into this shop i thought it was the most beautiful i had seen. Later i tried the chocolate and was even more delighted. I would still rate this as one of my favourite shops ever, although visits are becoming less and less frequent due to having less cash and more ...  Read the complete review

Apparently 9/10 people like chocolate - the tenth lies. Well I used to think that Cadburys was the best chocolate and refused to believe otherwise. About 5 years ago now in Watford I came across a small just opened shop called 'Hotel Chocolat' Well as I'm a bit of a chocoholic I went in and had a wander around. I soon became ...  Read the complete review

This is a beautiful shop and perfect for those little special presents that you need to get sometimes, either for yourself, or for someone else (or both!!). I went in for some birthday presents at lunch time today and was greeted by a really friendly lady who offered me a taste of their new rhubarb and custard puddles (heavenly!!) ...  Read the complete review

Couple of things to pint out from the start. Don't try to make a booking here - its not a hotel but is a chocolate shop. I often pop into the Milton Keynes shop when I need a bit of a boost. This is a great posh chocolate shop and can be compared to Thorntons. The shop always looks very sophisticated from the outside with ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Hotel Chocolat
by Simon - written on 10/04/09

I bought an Easter egg online (for £50) and paid extra for it to be delivered on the Saturday. They attempted to deliver on Thursday when I was out. Customer service phone lines are closed (despite the recorded message stating that they should be open at the times I've tried ringing) and I've had several problems submitting a complaint via their website. I have no way of knowing whether or not they've even received my complaint. If I want the item before Easter I have to pick it up from a depot miles away before 10.30 on Saturday morning. I have other deliveries coming on Saturday so I can't do that. Hotel Chocolat means my daughter won't be getting the egg I've been promising her since last year.

I'll start with a confession - I am a chocoholic and I am proud of it. I 'discovered' Hotel Chocolat a couple of years ago when Santa put a few small things from that shop in my Christmas stocking (and yes, I do still believe in Santa!) They tasted delicious, and from then on, I was hooked. I think the chocolate tastes great and the ...  Read the complete review

Bought some at a reasonable price after someone raved about them. Very disappointed. The dark chocolate had chilli added, not a good combination. Also the packaging didn't list ingredients which is rather worrying.

i don't like cheap chocolate such as nestle, cadburys etc but would like occasionally good swiss, belgium or french chocolate. Not sure where Hotel chocolate comes from, but it is not nice

I always thought Thorntons or Cadburys chocolate was my all-time favourite, as the 'better' brands (i.e. higher cocos solids, better quality) such as Green & Blacks just don't do it for me. I also hate dark chocolate and the fancier brands seem to specialise in this. With this in mind, I initially viewed the newly-opened Hotel Chocolat store ...  Read the complete review

For a long time on the high street the only really specialist chocolate seller that had a national prescence that I can think of is Thorntons (the comments will tell me if I have forgotten one) however now in the form of Hotel Chocolate they have a bit of competition, no this is not a place that Homer Simpson would have stayed in while in Land of ...  Read the complete review
