Rectory farm is a farm shop on the outskirts of Oxford. It is open all year round but in the summer really stands out as a great place to visit when there is a good selection of pick your own fruit and vegetables on offer along with activities for the children.
*The farm shop*
The shop has its own butcher who sells a large selection of meats, cooked meats and cheeses at very reasonable prices. We usually buy a 2.5kg block of mature cheddar for £12 which is super tasty and excellent value for money.
The farm shop also sell their own fresh produce such as vegetables, fruit and salad items along with homemade jams and condiments and fresh eggs and creams.
The price in both the farm shop and the butchers counter are very reasonable. The staff are friendly and efficient and there is a nice relaxed shopping atmosphere here.
*Pick your own months*
Pick your own months run from June through until the end of September. The sort of produce available to pick from include strawberries, raspberries, other berries, pears, apples and plums in the fruit area and items such as potatoes, vegetables and salad items in the vegetable area.
The fruit and vegetables always taste delicious and very good quality. A true necessity of summer for me is freshly picked strawberries. There is a vast area to pick from with a wide range of choice and different varieties.
*Activities for children during the summer months*
The thing that I love about Rectory farm during the summer months is the free availability of activities for families. The farm offers a large sand pit area with adventure playground and a bouncy castle. The play area for the children is safely designed for children of all ages. Whilst the children are playing, there is a patio area with tables and chairs where you can enjoy refreshments from the café whilst still being in close view of the children's play areas. After the children's playing time, you can head over for a tractor ride which goes around the farm and the children love it! All of these activities aside from the café are completely free of charge which makes for a great family day out.
To summarise, Rectory farm is very good value for money and an excellent way to spend a summer's day with the family. The produce is of a very high standard and good value for money.
Rectory Farm grows and sells a wide range of soft fruits, vegetables, and potatoes.
