I think most will find that these Tesco express shops are in built up residential areas. for example in the middle of a huge housing estate that has a few shops in the centre. Great for a few essentials if you have run out of things during the week but dont expect Tesco cheap prices because they don't tend to do their own brands in the express stores. They are cheaper than the average local corner shops but not by much !
