Advantages: Cheap and cheerful baragains

Disadvantages: Spend too much time in there, when should be doing other stuff, saving world etc.

I can count on one hand the things I truely love: my sons, Arsenal F.C., my family, a nice single malt and the feeling I get when I discover a real bargain!

So it's not unusual to find me rummaging about in: charity or second-hand shops, car boots, flea markets and my latest haunt; the local '99 Pence Store' I love it! Not only can you get all your toiletries at a fraction of the price you'd expect to pay elsewhere, you can stumble across some really unusual and suprisingly good grub - then again, you can also stumble across some unusual and suprisingly bad grub, but at 99p a try I reckon it's worth the gamble!

I was in there on Friday, it was a really sunny day, I'd rushed out to pick my mother up and forgotten to protect my already wrinkly skin against the elememts (and after splashing out near on sixty quid for some kind of facial and .... well, that's another story altogether!) so thinking on my feet - which, I find, is the very best way to think, because thinking on my hands is a near impossibility and thinking on my head, well, it just can't be done! - Anyway, I digress, I thought on my feet and came to the conclusion that I would need to cover my fragile, red, blotchy, ugly face, with some form of weather repellent and as I had buckets full of the stuff in doors I didn't want to spend a fortune - this is when I entered the 99p Store.

I dashed in like a member of the S.A.S., crack unit, quickly cased the joint and in seconds discovered a wonderful 30 factor, oil free, dermatologically tested, UVB and UVA, sensitive skin (that's me!) moisturising cream, all in one small tube and costing less than a £1 - bet you've already guessed, yep, it cost 99 pence! - and it was really, I mean really, good stuff, so good I had to go back later - once I'd dropped my mother off at the pub, and get another half dozen.

This is only one of the many, many things I've bought from there and gone back for more after finding them either; of outstanding quality or taste and more times than not just because I'd discovered a down-right bargain - I think I cleared them out of the Arsenal storage boxes, unbelievable at that price - 99p!

I've had books by well known authors and not so well known, hats, shoes, knickers, vests, chocolates, sweets, coffee, tea, pens, pencils, folders, dishcloths, towels, trowels, paint, stipper, tiles - wall and floor, water, sqash, teddies, vases, light bulbs, Christmas dec's, I could go on and on, however, I think I've already done that, so, summing up, I'd like to encourage everybody who reads this to have a little mooch around their local 99 Pence Store, because it really will have something for everyone and I bet you'll all be gob-smacked when you only get charged 99p per item!

Oh! and just in case you're interested in the moisturiser I mentioned it's called Everysun, Everyday, Anti-Ageing, Moisturising face care - the write-up on the pack's got to be worth more than a quid!

Summary: Worth a look, well, the most you can lose is 99p!
