RamblinMan Divine Dark Chocolate: ... will freely admit I am ever so slightly addicted to dark chocolate. There is plenty to choose from these days, but I usually look out for three brands: Green & Black s, Seeds of Change and Divine. All three are gorgeous high quality chocolates, but can differ in price. Last time I checked, Green & Black s was £1.87, Seeds of Change £1.99 and Divine just £1.09 at Waitrose. So in the name of money-saving, i...

scuba_angel Divine Dark Chocolate with Raspberries
... m sure like many of us I like the odd sweet treat and feel the occasional pang of guilt when ignoring the Fairtrade options for cheaper bars of chocolate. I spotted this attatched to the front of a magazine recently and decided to treat myself, magazines are a rare luxury and I had gone out looking for chocolate.... So what is Divine. Divine is a Fairtrade brand, meaning all the cocoabeans used in the manufacture of their chocolate are bought at a fair price from local growers - in fact Divine is 45% owned by the farmers who grow the cocoa. The paper wrapper is rather unusual looking, with patterns and symbols in red and gold on a dark brown back ground, opening up the...

... chocolate is a purely indulgent treat. A group of farmers in Ghana formed the Kuapa Kokoo under which they asked fair trade price for their farmed cocoa in 1993, however by 1997 they decided that rather than going for a niche market they would go out against mainstream brands. I have been trying to buy more fair trade products as although the rates farmers are paid are still much lower than they should be, it is a better rate than for non fair trade brands - small steps in the right direction. You can now buy them is supermarkets across England - it is around 85p for a 100g bar in most although Asda doesn t often seem to stock it. This does make it a little ...

cazkins Divine Milk Chocolate
... bought a bar of Divine chocolate a few months ago from The Body Shop after it was calling my name from its pretty wrapper as it sat on the shelf. It wasn t cheap at almost 60p but I d heard of the brand before and I was happy at the time to pay a little more to support fairtrade. Divine was launched in 1998 as the first fairtrade chocolate bar for consumers on a large scale. I m not completely ignorant when it comes to trade and the economy, but I ve learnt a lot since buying this chocolate thanks to their website. The cocoa used in Divine is from small-scale growers in Ghana, so the money we pay will be shared more fairly to them. I m not sure how this compares to oth...
