Advantages: Individual chocolates, good quality

Disadvantages: I don't like peppermint

Its Christmas again and there's a box of After Eights on the coffee table!

Now I have to say that I am not over keen on these as they are full of peppermint crème and I have never been a great fan of peppermint, but I do have one or two so I think I can manage a review of them.

They are made by Nestle in Germany and their websites are www.nestle.com or www.nestle.de

The box is green with After Eight written in white with the two words being one either side of a picture of an old fashioned clock showing the time as five past eight.

Inside the 200g box there are about 20 After Eight mints each in an individual sleeve a bit like a little record sleeve (for those of you who remember what we used before CD's were invented!). They also make a 300g box with about 30 mints in it which costs about £2.50 so I am guessing that the 200g box was about £2 - it was part of a Christmas present so I have no idea!

The mints themselves are flat and square and about an inch and a half in length and width.

The outside of each sweet is plain chocolate with a peppermint crème inside. As you pop one into your mouth the chocolate dissolves as the peppermint crème oozes out and the two mix together. As I said earlier I have the occasional one as I think, considering they are peppermint, they're OK but not something I could eat a lot of. I have to admit the peppermint is nice to aid digestion after a meal.

They also make a white chocolate version and a milk chocolate version in a blue box but I haven't tried these yet. I have also just found out the there is a version with orange crème instead of peppermint - now I think I might like these!

If you are interested in the nutrition the facts per mint are as follows:
Calories 35
Protein 0.2g
Carbohydrates 6.2g
Fat 1g

Summary: A nice after meal sweet

These were the height of refinement to us when we were growing up - not seen them for ages though
