She liked it that she could feed them herself as well because these waffles stay in one piece better than the Birds Eye ones so they stayed on her fork better. I reckon these are a bargain at 80p and you should try them if you go into Aldi because even though the box looks proper cheap they are a nice meal....more

I haven't had potato waffles for years but I was shopping the other day in Aldi and came across these bad boys in the frozen food section and thought I'd give them ago. I remember eating potato waffles all the time when I was a kid and loved them so thought I would try and rekindle my childhood by purchasing a packet. The Packaging These waffles come in a red box with a picture of one of the waffles on the front as well as the brand name 'Champion Potato waffles' written next o the picture. The waffles are described as 'Crispy waffles made with real mashed potatoes! Oven bake or fry!'. Aswell as the brief product description there is also a little ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aldi's Waffles. (329 words)

I recently purchased 12 potato waffles for 75p in my local Aldi store, I have previously been buying 12 for £1.00 from my local Iceland (Birds Eye ones) so it does pay to shop around. The waffles are provided in a cardboard box which is recyclable and helps to keep the waffles, and their crumbs, from falling out all inside my freezer. Each waffle contains around 95 calories and 3.5g which is slightly better than the Birds Eye ones and they appear to be the same size. This can be cooked under the grill for 8 minutes (turning halfway) or baked in the oven for 15 minutes (turning halfway), I know from recent experience that you are B-B-Q ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aldi Champion Potato Waffles: A tasty accompaniment to your meal (445 words)

Knowing my granddaughters' were coming for lunch a couple of weeks ago I picked up a box of these Potato Waffles in Aldi as I know the girls' love waffles and I find they are handy to keep in the freezer. I was impressed at the price of these, 12 waffles costing just 75p which is much cheaper than the Birds Eye equivalent. I cooked the waffles, as usual with this type of product they took an extra 10 minutes before they looked browned enough to serve but to be honest whenever I cook waffles I always add this extra time as this is a general problem specific to these things whatever brand you buy. They looked and smelled very appetising once cooked ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review These Are Champion! (368 words)

When we were in Aldi yesterday I brought a box of Champion potato waffles because I love waffles and knew I wouldn't have time to go to the other supermarket to get the Birds Eye ones. I have just had 2 for my dinner and they are wicked and there isn't much of a difference between these and Birds Eye apart from the price. These were about 80p for 12 and in the shop by me the same amount of Birds Eye waffles are £1.39 so that's quite a lot of money to save. You can cook them under the grill or fry them or do them in the oven. I put mine in the oven because I was doing fish at the same time so it was easy to put them in together. They're ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aldi Champion Potato Waffles: Who needs to always have a leading brand! (186 words)

I love potato waffles regardless of what make thet are - there all the same!! However i do tend to buy this particular brand a fair bit. Why? because not only are they kind to your wallet but they are just as good as the leading brand. Made from potato they are filling, easy to cook and go with most things. There are several ways that these can be cooked - either fried (yuk!), grilled or baked in the oven. My particular favorite is grilled. That way they go nice and crispy on the outside where still nice and fluffy on the inside. They are ideal at anytime of the day (for me they are been plenty of times when i've got ...  Read the complete review
