... over 90 years' I remember this as a little girl when I used to love it then as well, warmed up and with jam mixed in! I think rice pudding is comfort food with its soft grains of boiled rice in milk and sugar plus its low in fat and a really good source of calcium from the dairy product. There are no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives added to Ambrosia and it is full of goodness with 9% rice and 72% milk. The one I am reviewing is a low fat version which has 91 calories per 100g and 9g of sugar and 1.4g of f...more

One of my favourite desserts is rice pudding - in fact I could eat it for breakfast, lol! I don't mind what brand I eat but the best one is 'Ambrosia Devon Rice Pudding' made since 1917 by the company in their Lifton creamery with real Devon milk, in fact there is a glass and a half of milk in every 425g tin. These were recently on offer in Morrisons 2 for one pound so I got my mum to buy them as they weren't any more expensive than the supermarket's own brand at that price... The tin is recyclable and has a light blue label with a really pretty picture of green fields on the front. Described as: 'Ambrosia- proudly made in ...  Read the complete review

I have always adored rice pudding ever since being a child and so has my daughter, so when she spotted two tins on special promotion for only £1 at Morrisons it was too good and offer to miss! Produced since 1917 in a creamery in Lifton, 'Ambrosia Devon Creamed Rice' has to be the best quality comforting dessert there is of the rice pudding varieties out there on the shelves... Sold in 425 gram metal recyclable tins with the synonymous light blue label, there is something quite special about the thickness of the creamy sauce and the soft-grained rice that others have tried to emulate but just can't. Full of calcium and low fat too the ...  Read the complete review

I'd almost forgotten just how good 'Ambrosia Creamy Rice Pudding' was! It's been a good while since I had some, but when I warmed some up in the microwave the other night, I was for a brief moment, in heaven, this really is an incredible dessert! The packing is well known, well branded and attracts your eyes from across the supermarket aisle. I bought the tin after seeing it on offer from 'Tesco's' at buy three for £2.00. Usually the tins are 78p which is very respectable seeing as this is good wholesome food, that really does it's duty. Once I'd opened the tin and set it off in the microwave for a few minutes I was eager to see if it still had that ...  Read the complete review

++What is rice pudding?++ Rice pudding is a dessert, originating from Asia. It is made from a combination of rice, milk, sugar and often cream. ++How and when do you eat rice pudding?++ Rice pudding can be eaten both hot and cold, and many people add things to it such as jam (and my partner has a habit of adding more sugar, which seems disgusting to me, but each to their own!). Rice pudding is most suitable to eat as a dessert (in case the name rice 'pudding' didnt make that obvious!). And I dont know if this is just me, but rice pudding seems to be a real comfort food, and since i was alot younger i have eaten it whenever i am ill, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ambrosia Creamy Rice Pudding: Made in Heaven (263 words)

Feeling in need of some comfort food at the weekend I popped a couple of these onto my online Tesco order - costing £1.79 for 3 425g cans. More efficient than buying one can at £0.77 per can. This comes in a can with a blue label over it and a picture as above but with snow (not sure if they change the label slightly according to the season??!!) Made in Devon for over 90 years this contains full cream milk, skimmed milk, whey, rice and sugar. The good news is it does not have any artificial colours or flavourings to it, the not so good news is that half a can contains 10.5% of the recomended calorie intake for an adult! Half a can also carries ...  Read the complete review
