Ambrosia
Prepare to be slimed on Halloween.
I just looked at the foodstuffs on dooyoo to see if there were any I could play a wicked trick on you at my party.
I saw this food stuff and thought I could play a similar game to the one I played with super noodles.
Ok are you seated around my cauldron put the blindfold on, I will present you with a bowl I wonder if you can tell me what it is ? . First feel it.
That’s right put your hands in. I have not warmed it, if you wish too I can heat it for you to eat. There now how does it feel? Squidgy slimy a few lumps in it ehh hee hee it is quite sticky mmmm. Feels soft gloomy, haa haa is it ghost slime? Ectoplasm? Do you want to taste a spoonful? Yes, mouth open it’s quite a thick creamy, gloop. What’s that you feel a few soft lumps in your mouth? Do you like it? It’s a little bit sweet, tasty a creamy milk……………….. It is rice pudding Ambrosia rice pudding.
I must be completely honest I do not like this rice pudding as I was spoiled when I was a child with my mums home made rice pudding. I thought Ambrosia rice pudding would be great for playing a trick on Halloween. If you really wanted too you could stir in some raisins or currants some pieces of chopped apple add to the tactile experience,
Now the serious bit. Ambrosia was the name of the food of the gods.
Alfred Morris from Devon founded the company Ambrosia in 1917 drying milk from the abundance of creamy milk from the Devon herds and he produced baby foods. The factory developed and got bigger their products becoming very popular. The factory making Ambrosia rice pudding is still at Lifton N Devon
Just before the Second World War broke out Ambrosia rice pudding was developed. In the Second World War this pudding was distributed to the soldiers by the Red Cross Ambrosia is now part of the premier foods chain making all sorts of instant milk products, custards, semolina, and tapioca.
Any way the ambrosia creamed rice pudding is available in tins weighing 425 grams, also available now in one serving plastic tubs they contain 150g. These tubs are an ideal size for your child’s school dinner pack up, a good way of getting some calcium in them
There are no artificial colours in Ambrosia rice puddings no preservatives, lots of complex carbohydrates, free from Gluten
In Ambrosia creamy milk pudding are Full Cream Milk, Skimmed Milk, Whey, Rice (9%), Sugar, and total Milk Content 76%
Per 100g contains 93Kcal, 3.2 g protein 15.7g carbohydrates of which 8.2 g are sugars, 1’5g fat a trace of fibre and a trace of sodium
Ambrosia rice pudding is also available in a low fat variety.
Ambrosia rice pudding is now available in pots with Apple. with Strawberry , ( brings back memories of school dinner rice pudding with a dollop of red jam on it , one day I puked it up teachers not very sympathetic I remember . ) with sultanas and nutmeg, (I remember grand ma put nut meg on the top of her rice puddings I hated it ). Banana rice pudding,
Ambrosia makes a variety of milk deserts custards, semolina tapioca (frogspawn pudding) all make fairly nutritious healthy puddings. If your child is eating school packed lunches.
These puddings can be eaten either hot or cold. They are really convenient could be used on a camping holiday as a tin needs no refrigeration storage. Or mum can serve these up for pudding at home saves her having to slave over a hot stove if she has been out at work all day. These can be heated either in microwave or on the hob Opened and in a pan of course,
Cost 38p for a single portion or 63p for the 425 can so cheaper to buy a can eat half one night ½ the next. Sounds cheap enough for a hard up student to have for pudding (the voracious students I know would eat a 425g can on their own though.)
. Ambrosia is yet another company that has been bought by Premier food it was purchased in 2003
So will I treat you to a trick wioth Ambrosia creamed rice pudding ? I think I have a tin in the pantry .
I may put a sweet treat in this gloopy ectoplasm (rice pudding) for you to find either with your fingers while you are blind folded or maybe I will make you dunk for some apples in it .(just picked the tiny apples from my tree today)
Appologies to Ambrosia for calling this pudding glory ectoplasm but its all fun .
Ambrosia really is a creamy , tasty ( to most people except me) pudding I still prefer my mumsSad she is not alive to make it any more , (sorry feeling a bit sad it would have been her 87y bday today .)
Summary: A fun thing to do with Ambrosia creamed rice on Halloween
