Advantages: Tasty and easy to use

Disadvantages: High in calories

I am a huge fan of custard. Sometimes I just have a bowl of it by itself for dessert. I am inherently lazy and so when I realised you could buy custard ready made to perfection in a tin rather than having to make it up form powder that could sometimes go magnificently wrong, I was sold. We now always have a tin of Ambrosia Custard in the cupboard.

This custard is quite thick. It is very smooth and deliciously sweet. The reason Ambrosia is my favourite brand of custard is because it is so creamy. It has a deep yellow colour but in terms of taste it is almost as rich as clotted cream. It goes so well with all sorts of desserts or is just fine by itself.

I tend to cook it in the microwave because it is so easy. It only takes about two or three minutes for it to get really hot.

Nutritional Info per 100g:
102 calories
2.9g fat
1.6g saturates

This is pretty bad considering you would usually have it with a fattening dessert... but who cares?! It's delicious!!

Summary: Delicious!

I've often got this in the cupboard to provide a quick toddler dessert! Must say, I prefer making my own though!

I would be interested to know the sugar content being diabetic.
