Advantages: Thick, Creamy and delicious!
Disadvantages: A little sweet
Ambrosia is one of the countries most well known brand names, and there's a reason why. They make THE best custard. Thick creamy and absolutely delicious, I love my custard nice and hot served with a bit of sticky pudding or cake.
- Packaging -
The tin is covered in a lovely green and blue label, resembling the grass and the sky, with the cream coloured Ambrosia logo with the blue writing. All the nutritional information is on the back of the tin with ingredients, and the cooking instructions.

I buy mine from my local Asda at 60p for the 425g tin, it's definitely value for money and isn't going to break the bank. The Asda SmartPrice custard is 25p per tin, but I think it's definitely worth spending the extra 35p for a better quality custard.

Ambrosia custard is without a doubt the nicest on the market, it's thick, tasty and oh so creamy. I'm not a fan of cold custard but I'm sure this still tastes as nice! Haha!
I love warm custard over a bit of sponge pudding, or swiss roll. So the cake soaks up all of the sweet tasting custard. Yum Yum!
I've tried the Asda SmartPrice custard, but thought it was a little too watery. Ambrosia custard is a brand you can trust to taste delicious. The colour was a nice light shade of yellow, unlike the own brand product that was a bright yellow/orangey colour, and it flowed easily out of the can instead of sort of flopping out into the pan.
The price is pretty reasonable. Cheaper brands are around 30p less, but I'd rather pay that extra 30p this time round to get the tastiest custard. There is also a low fat option if your watching your waistline, but I don't think that the normal brand has too much fat in it really. Don't be tough on yourself, treat yourself instead! It's only a treat, it's not like you'd eat it everyday. If your having it poured over pudding or cake then there's no need for the low fat version in my opinion! Haha!
Ambrosia have so many different products now there's lots to choose from and something for everyone. There are new smaller snack pots of custard with exciting new flavours like Vanilla, Toffee, Strawberry, Chocolate and Banana. These single pots are 34p but are currently on offer at Asda at 3 pots for £1.
As I've said there's something for everyone, I'd recommend anyone to give Ambrosia a try, its thick, creamy and simply delicious. Warmed up over pudding, or if you like it cold then maybe with a bit of fruit or something? At 60p for a can you can't go wrong. Or maybe try one of the new flavours? There's something for everyone.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: Yum Yum!
