Advantages: Lovely!

Disadvantages: None at all unless you don't like custard of course lol

I absolutely love and adore custard! However I don't like home-made offerings since I've been old enough to decide not to partake in it anymore! The whole reason behind this is because growing up my Mother made the most revolting thick and lumpy custard ever and for years I wouldn't touch it unless forced (and I was every Sunday!). However nowadays I love Ambrosia as a brand and recently got the courage to tickle my taste-buds with a pot of custard!

Whether it be a can, carton or pot (like mine) they all look very much the same and all are available in low fat varieties too if you really want to watch your weight. So my pot is a 150g (single serving) pot that cost me 41p. Expect to pay about £1.41 for a four pack of this size, 77p for a 425g can, 84p for a 500g carton or £1.57 for a 1kg carton (prices taken from the Sainsbury's website).

So my pot is white and dark green with a dark green peel back foil lid to the top of it and on that lid I'm told it is Ambrosia Devon Custard. Around the main body of the pot I'm again given that information and then around the back of it I'm told a bit about the product, ingredients and nutritional information is given, I'm given instructions of how to heat it up (if desired and in the microwave for 50 seconds simply stirring half way through cooking time), contact details for Ambrosia are given, I'm told it is suitable for Vegetarians, the best before date is clearly stamped on and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice and informative little pot this is!

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Pot....

No artificial colours
No preservatives
A low fat food
A good source of calcium
Suitable for Vegetarians
Gluten free

The custard Itself....

Delicious, rich and tasty this light coloured yellow custard is glossy and not too thick (certainly no lumps in here and it's as smooth as a babies bum!) and not too runny either although it can be poured with ease. It's sweet and creamy in a natural way and I appreciate the natural sugar that this has with it rather than sweeteners that always seem to leave me with an odd after-taste on my tongue!

It's crisp, it's fresh and it's light but still manages to be really rich and really, really tasty. Healthy too with only 153 Kcal per 150g (the size of my pot) and only 2.4g of saturated fat, for me this is a rather healthy sweet fix and I love to eat it on it's own! Great hot/warm/cold (my preffered way is the latter lol) it's great on a hot or cold dessert of course or on some fruit! Very versatile I love this custard.... and you can't beat the best in my opinion! It's simply excellent quality!

Summary: Wonderful!
