I don't mind cheap Custard. It can be pretty nice tasting if a little runny, but this is the brand name in Custard and this wins the best Custard award in my view.
This is made by Ambrosia and costs about 80p for a can of it. You can get this in little pots, cardboard containers and such, but I normally plump for the can of it. Perhaps this is because I normally like to eat this cold straight from the fridge, and I guess the tin in this is a good conductor of cold.
The design of the packaging is alright, but nothing that special. The can doesn't even have a ring pull on it! The wrap around label is a medium green colour and has the Ambrosia branding over the middle in blue writing. It has a sky blue part on the label as well, and I think the label has always looked the same.
Per 100g there is 102 calories and 2.9g fat.
When you open this you will see the medium yellow coloured Custard. You can see it is pretty thick and although this gets a little thinner when heated up, it is still pretty thick. The smell from this is nice. It is a Creamy, Slightly Vanilla hint Custard.
It's hard to explain the taste of this, but it is nice. It is quite sweet, but there is a lighter option to this which isn't quite as sweet. You can team this up with perhaps a sponge pudding and I had it with Strawberry Jelly last week which was nice.
Worth spending that bit more on this lovely Custard.
