I've always loved custard! To me its a real 'feel good' food, though not the way my Mother always made it, so since being old enough to make an informed choice no longer am I stuck with my Mum's gloopy, nasty, lumpy offering! I always buy tinned custard! I've tried loads over the years but this so far is, by far my favourite...so far lol! The Packaging.... As on the photograph at the top of this review. It's a green and blue tin with a kind of village scene on the front and clearly tells me what it is and who it is by. It's a 425g recyclable tin you have to open with a tin opener. On the back tells me a little bout the company, how to heat (if ... Read the complete review

AMBROSIA LOW FAT CUSTARD Stepping into Sainsbury.s feeling hungry and wanting that something sweet, decided to buy a reduced apple and blackcurrant pie, and some of this delicious Ambrosia Low Fat Custard. Guess i know what you are thinking perhaps buying a pie then buying low fat custard kinda defeats the object, but i wanted something sweet, and seeing low fat custard was thinking it both with the small slice of pie wouldnt be too bad. This came in a tub ready made, for 41p, which is plenty for myself, and easy to open just pull back the foil lid and heat for a few minutes then its ready. This simple dairy custard is a ... Ambrosia Low Fat Custard was recommended to me in my Weight Watchers meeting a few weeks ago and now I always pop a couple of the individual little pots in my trolley as they're a tasty standby to have in the cupboard, nice for pouring over a Weight Watchers cake or adding to jelly to make a trifle. I've never eaten any other ready to eat custards so can't compare this to its full fat counterpart, but this is a really delicious custard and you could serve it to anyone and I doubt they'd have any idea that it was a diet food. I usually make my own custard, but once I've added the sugar and milk it made for a rather calorie laden dessert. In comparison these ... Read the complete review

Custard has the ability to make or break that Apple Crumble, cake or whichever desert you decide to slather it over, so it's very important. Well it's important to me because I LOVE custard I have a weird obsession with the stuff. I don't know if it's the deliciously creamy taste or mixing it with the sweet stuff but I really can't get enough. Some people's vices are chocolate, fizzy drinks or crisps mine is CUSTARD!! So baring all this in mind it's especially important that I choose the right type of custard. So as to make sure I don't balloon if I decide to have it with something say a few nights a week (yes that much :O) whilst also getting the good stuff that hit's ... Read the complete review

Custard - a versatile dessert, can make or break trifles and crumbles, can be eaten hot or cold and makes an excellent base for ice cream. What's not to like! Actually there is one thing - it's a little tricky and time consuming to make custard from scratch. Luckily there are plenty of instant and powdered options out there and in my opinion Ambrosia Low Fat Devon Custard is one of the best. The best thing about this custard is its taste. Its a glossy yellow custard, although not scarily yellow, with a good spoon coating consistency. It tastes creamy, with a subtle sweetness (unlike many other low fat custards which taste too artificially ... Read the complete review
