Amoy, Amoy, my love. (sung to the tune of Amore). * As a nation we have embraced oriental cuisine to a point when almost every household has a Wok. Chinese food was one of the earliest types of Asian food to tickle the nation's taste buds as far back as the 1950's. Indian food followed and nowadays we delight in sampling Asian dishes and trying to recreate them in our own homes. However, as any cook will tell you, the art of stir fry is not as simple as it seems. There comes a point when juggling meat, vegetables, noodles and soy sauce can result in a soggy mess of overcooked food swimming in thin sauce. Personally I like the challenge of ... For an easy meal, these are pretty good noodles. I have so far had the Thread Fine Noodles and the Medium Noodles. I especially like the Thread Fine ones as they seem to mix really well with veg and sauce and make a tasty dish to get stuck into. ***** How to cook them ***** I doubt you could find noodles that are as easy to cook as these! On the back it gives a recipe idea (on my pack it was Hong Kong Sweet and Sour Chicken) which tells you to stir-fry chicken for a few minutes, then add veg and stir fry for another few minutes, then add the sauce and cook that for 1 minute, then add the noodles and cook for a further 1 minute. If you're only ... Read the complete review

Chinese for dinner? Carry out meals are so easy but sadly not good for the waistline or the pocket, especially during the so-called credit crunch. It is really easy to cook Chinese style meals, and economical too, plus by using Amoy straight to work noodles you can have a meal within 15-20 minutes. The noodles come in a soft plastic bag, red and white in colour and with a picture of the noodles. Mine were traditional medium, the bag contains to clear plastic packages containing 150grams of noodles. The 2 packets will serve 2-3 people. Both of the packets will tear open for quickness. They are made from natural wheatflour (43%), the main ingredient ... Read the complete review

I always try to cook a homemade meal in the evening if I can, as they tend to be healthier than ready made alternatives. One of my husband's favourites is a stir fry with noodles - the stir fry bit's pretty quick and easy to achieve, the most time-consuming part of that is chopping the ingredients. But the noodles used to be a faff - boiling a pan of water, getting a slab of dried noodles out and invariably dropping bits of flaked off noodle all over the floor. Even after all that, they still need to be drained of water before they can be served. Plus somehow I never seemed to manage to cook them for the right length of time, they were either to crunchy still or else too ... Read the complete review

I purchased a packet of these Amoy Straight to Wok noodles a while ago as they have a long shelf life - mine had 6+ months when I purchased them - they can be stored in the cupboard (no need to refrigerate) and are ready cooked for those occassions that you really need to prepare a quick meal. The packaging is just a tear open bag, no large boxes to store. It has a bright no fuss design which is quite eye catching when one is perusing the aisles. The back of the packet also has a recipe idea which is a bonus. The packet contains a further two smaller packets which contain the noodles allowing you to use all or half. 2 x 150g which should serve ... Read the complete review
