Advantages: tastes quite nice

Disadvantages: disappointing though

I am always buying unusual things on my food shopping trips but do like to look out for different products as well. On this particular occasion I was shopping for some milk and looking at the dairy products. I was then thinking about hot chocolate and how I used to love spraying the Anchor Spray Cream on the top when I came across a new flavour which was on offer, it was a Chocolate Mousse Spray Cream. I had never seen this before but it sounded really nice and was different as well. I could try this instead of the usual cream just to see if I liked it and if not it would be no great loss.

Anchor is a brand which comes under the Arla Foods Company, who is well known for dairy products. They started working in the UK when the launch of Lurpak happened at the start of the century.

So, the actual packaging of the product is that it's in a tall can with a spray nozzle at the top. The actual background is a chocolate colour in swirls and the Anchor logo is placed on top. The picture is of ice cream with a chocolate swirl on it. The lid is like a swirl of cream it is cleverly done. It is a 250g can.

Per 12.5g serving there is 42 calories and there are 3.8g of fat which isn't too much but to keep eating it would be fattening. It is UHT cream and is a mousse definitely not a cream.

The actual smell is of artificial chocolate it smells sweet but quite nice. The actual appearance is a thick light brown pasty look; it is just like a typical chocolate mousse but in a can. It was different from what I expected, as it is thicker than I'd wanted it to be, you have to really give it a shake before use to get it coming out properly. The nozzle also gets clogged up so you have to push down quite hard to get the cream to come out sometimes. It is quite fiddly especially if you want a perfect swirl as it comes out in bits sometimes.

To use the spray it is a case of really giving it a shake and pushing down on the button as it takes a while if you haven't used it in a bit for the mousse to come out of the nozzle. Point it downwards and then the mousse should start to come out but it looks a bit sloppy. It is nice on hot chocolate being chocolate flavoured but it doesn't look that nice when sat there as it goes a bit frothy and melts quite quickly.

I like the taste it is sweet and quite sugary tasting but I have to say I was disappointed with this product as it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe hot chocolate isn't the best way to have it as they do show it on ice cream but in future I would probably stick to the original cream as this tastes much nicer and is easier to use without it drying up in the nozzle.

The cream also tastes quite heavy after a while and is something you definitely have to be in the mood for or it could probably be too much, They recommend on the can you use it with jelly but I don't like the sound of that and they even have a pictorial guide on how to use the spray cream. It says there are 20 servings in one can. All nutritional and contact information is stated.

If you like the sound of this which reminds me a lot of Cadburys Chocolate Mousse then you can buy it in all supermarkets but I bought mine at Asda. This retails for roughly £1.89 but I got mine at an introductory price of 55p or something similar.

I would really recommend this to anyone who loves chocolate flavoured foods or who really loves chocolate mousse but other than that I wouldn't really say it would be worthy buying if you don't have a sweet tooth.

This sounds like an insult to chocolate, quite honestly. Yuck!
