Advantages: Everything!
Disadvantages: You may run out of milk
David Boreanaz is the vampire Angel in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, his brooding manly charms are notoriously dangerous to my hormone secretion levels. However, Angels some in many shapes and sizes and not just the every expanding size of Mr . B!
Unfortunately, I cannot put David in a cupboard or enjoy him with fresh strawberries... So a milk based dessert is the closest I am going to get. Damn my karma.
Angel Delight has been one of my favourite things since I was a Ra-Ra skirt wearing little brat.
It comes in the following flavours:
Strawberry
Raspberry
Banana
Chocolate
Butterscotch
Vanilla
Candyfloss
A child of the 60's (1967: So younger than Jarvis then) Angel Delight remains to be a firm family favourite of Kraft Foods who are notably the second largest food manufacturing company in the world. (According to http://www.kraftfoods.co.uk).
Recently I have noticed, (in yes you've guessed it Tesco, sigh) that they are promoting a new gimmick if you will, whereby the chocolate one is with chocolate buttons. I seem to recall that this was about 3 pence more expensive than the regular type. (50p-55p or so, Sorry I was looking at that boy again)
Angel Delight is also available in a sugar free variety.
Although I do really like this product, I do find that it can be quite sweet. I have to say that I find the Vanilla and Butterscotch flavours a little on the synthetic tasting side.
The only other downside I can think of is that it comes in sachets and if these aren't opened with care, the powder goes everywhere. Maybe they should think of selling reusable tubs like Smash. I have found these far more practical in the long run. As not only does it prevent spillage but also guards against any possible contact with moisture. A wet Angel Delight sachet is not a happy chappy... Oooooh David Boreanaz, in the shower.
*Raises eyebrow and looks away, in shame at her lewdness*
Things I have learnt:
* You must put in 330ml of milk; if you skimp on the milk, it is tooooooooooooo sickly.
* If you spill any of it on work surfaces, wipe up immediately, or else it sets like a demon.
* The banana and strawberry flavours are lovely when you eat them alongside their fruit counterparts.
* It is also very nice with jelly if you do not like Trifle as such.
* You must whisk thoroughly or you will get horrible powdery lumps.
* Ignore the serving advice; it is quite normal for one person to eat a whole sachet... isn't it?
*. Ignore the setting rule and bung it in the freezer for speed!
I heartily recommend Angel Delight:
1. It is inexpensive.
2. It is a simple dessert that children can make themselves.
3. It promotes calcium intake.
4. Healthier than a bar of chocolate for example,
(455cals per 100g may sound a lot but 100g can contain three or more servings allegedly.)
5. It can be prepared during a commercial break
INGREDIENTS: Sugar Hydrogenated vegetable oil Emulsifiers Modified starch Gelling agents, Milk protein, Lactose, Flavourings and Whey powder
Angel Delight is suitable for vegetarians, old people with no teeth, children and lazy students who cannot be bothered going shopping every week:)
