Advantages: Great taste
Disadvantages: None
I am a huge, huge, HUGE fan of Angel Delight - I have very fond memories of it as a child, and unlike a lot of sweet-tooth reminiscence, this taste has actually transpired over into adulthood, and I still pine regularly for the delicious and creamy taste of this lovely dessert.
Angel Delight is not only utterly delightful, but it can be put together in a matter of minutes, and what's more, it's also insanely cheap, with the packets rarely costing more than 50p each! If you have children, they will no doubt pester you for these superb treats, as I fondly recall doing myself when I was a young tot.
There isn't really much to the dessert itself - it's a mouse-type cream that comes in a sachet packet as a powder - you then add milk to the powder, mix it, and then allow it to set in the fridge for as long as you like. I tend to let it set in the fridge for an hour or so, as I quite enjoy a thick consistency, but I know many people who will simply leave it in their fridge for all of a few minutes. Generally I am quite an impatient person, but when it comes to Angel Delight, I am prepared to wait a little to longer to ensure that the end product is light, fluffy, creamy, and delicious!
I'm quite greedy when it comes to Angel Delight, so I tend to make one packet stretch between only two people, although the packet recommends that they can feed four people, with a certain smug optimism. I guarantee that you'll want to devour most of the packet by yourself, so sharing it between yourself and someone else is probably the safe option! The dessert comes in a multitude of flavours, including Strawberry, Raspberry, Butterscotch and Chocolate, although my favourite will always be Butterscotch, because it has the richest, purest taste, and is the least ordinary of the whole bunch!
Summary: Magnificent, in a word

- 02/09/09 You forgot to mention that it's also great to experiment and add other ingredients into the mix - for example - chopped up banana into the banana angel delight before putting in the fridge. The possibilities are endless.... |
