Advantages: Good quality, tasty, cheap
Anyone who knows me, knows that when it comes to eating I eat whatever is quick unless it is shoved in front of me or if go out for a meal but my philosophy is that I cant cook...... wont cook and I have no intention of learning to cook at my age as life's to short and I get by lol
So I live on toast and Rivita's mainly as even I rarely can go wrong making that. I have a variety of jams, marmalade's, peanut butters and always get pate in a weekly shop.
With Brussels Pate I'm a right fuss pot. I find the slabs in plastic from a refrigerator in a shop don't spread easy, tubes of spread are normally too heavily liver bound based. Then I found this one that I'm reviewing today and my prayers were answered on every level!.
Asda Brussels Pate (smooth pork liver pate) comes in 175g Dark blue and white plastic longish pot. It has a push on and pull off lid and on first opening you have to remove the foil protective cover off the pate. On the base of the pot it tells me to keep it chilled, ingredients, warnings, and nutritional values. Also tells me if I'm not a 100 % happy with this product to call the phone number given for a replacement or refund from Asda.
Well it spreads really easily which to me is the most important thing. I hate when I've made toast and I come along tearing my bread with a chunk of something that resembles lard. This is not fatty or greasy in taste of appearance. It's very smooth in appearance and very rich and meaty in taste. It tastes mainly of pork and I always think I can taste a small hint of garlic but I can't according to the ingredients so maybe that's the ginger and other spices adding to the flavour.
When eating it, it has a lightly bitter, sharp taste on the back of the throat but I don't mean in a nasty way it's just all part of the taste. It's not heavily salted, thick or sweet. It's just a pork spreading pate which tastes of meat as it should and is a really nice pink colour so looks appetising as well! Great on toast and crackers.
