Asda egg custard tarts are an essential part of my monthly shopping delivery as I just cannot resist adding them to my order, I usually buy two boxes to feed my craving. Compared to some other supermarket egg custards these are at the top of the list. The packaging is bright yellow with a clear part that shows you the pies inside, the actual pies sit in a silver aluminium tray and they come in various sizes, there is a box you can buy that contains two small pies which costs 59p one shown above contains four small pies and cost 98p, the next box contains one large single 320g pie and that costs 99p all of which I feel are quite good value. The pies ... Read the complete review

When I was younger, my nan use to buy us a large egg custard from Firkins during her weekly shop with mum on a Friday. The whole egg custard would be demolished and eaten in within minutes. I would always be crafty and on the greedy side when it came to egg custards and cut a larger slice for myself and give my brother the slightly smaller piece, don't think he ever noticed else he would have complained. The only thing I hated about the Firkins egg custard was the skin on top would seem a bit burnt and the pastry edge would not be pleasant, maybe over cooked, only the actual egg custard filling being the best part. Over a few years now, I tend to purchase my ... Read the complete review

I spotted these tarts yesterday when I was in my local Asda, and I fancied something different so i bought the 2 pack as I've never tried these ones and there's just the 2 of us. They cost 59p for this pack, they are also available in a four pack (as shown in the picture above) or in one larger tart, I think this would be messy though, you need the pastry all around to keep the filling in. ***The Packaging*** The pack is a yellow card board box with a clear plastic window on the top, so you can see the product. There is a picture of the product on the side of the box, which does took very yummy and tempting, beside the picture is the ... Read the complete review

In Asda a couple of weeks ago I fancied a nice sweet treat, strangely not in the mood for chocolate I found myself perusing the fruit tarts and other such desserts. When I saw the two packs of their own brand Egg Custard Tarts I just had to buy them as I had forgotten all about these deliciously gooey little tarts and knew I'd be in for a treat. These Custard Tarts are a good size, roughly the same as you'd expect to buy from a bakery although these do seem a little taller but with a smaller diameter than bakery egg custards. They appear very tasty indeed. The pastry case is an appetising golden brown colour and looks like it is going to be ... Read the complete review

It was by an unfortunate mistake that I read a dooyoo review of these just before I was about to make my weekly order at Asda.com. How could I resist looking for these and plonking them in my trolley? Well I couldn't and didn't and that's why I am fondly remembering them as I write this review! The box of egg custard tarts cost me just under a pound and contained four average sized cakes. Each one contains no artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives but if you have a nut or egg allergy then it would be common sense to steer clear of these. The tarts are really good. The pastry is soft and although it crumbles when you bite into it, it's ... Read the complete review
