After many years of indulging in Ben & Jerrys ice creams, I felt I needed a change, I have to be honest as much as I enjoy the afore mentioned ice cream I feel it is very costly to purchase so thought I would try one of Asda's own brand makes I will review the "cookies and cream" ice cream from Asda's extra special range as it is one of the nicest ones I have tried. ~~~~~~ THE ICE CREAM ~~~~~~ The ice cream comes in a 1 litre tub with a delectable picture of the ice cream on the front, two large scoops in a bowl oozing seductively over the sides, with the " extra special" logo running down the left hand side of the ... I do like Ice Cream, but it is not something I have to have in the house all the time. I like Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, and tend to find most others pretty boring, but I was drawn by what this Ice Cream was offering. Normally for Ice Cream it has to be Chocolate with some other bits thown in, and Vanilla isn't that exciting in my view. So how am I reviewing a Vanilla Ice Cream then? Well read on. This tub is from the Extra Special range from Asda. The expensive shop label that most shops have a version of. This comes in 1litre tubs and normally costs £3. £3 for Ice Cream? Yes, I know but it is really nice. I bought it when it was on offer for £2, and there is ... Read the complete review

Asda extra special cookies and cream ice cream is part of the extra special range of products in Asda. This ice cream comes in a 1 litre round tub, with the extra special logo on the side. It says it is smooth dairy ice cream with chocolate sauce, and cookie chunks and crumble. The Plastic container has a round resalable lid. The picture on the front of the tub looks very appetising with the ice-cream melting down the dish. There is 157kcal per 1/10th of the tub, no colours, flavourings or preservatives no hydrogenated fat and are suitable for vegetarians. I find this ice- cream Very chocolaty, and was quite disappointed with the ... Read the complete review

I love ice cream but only good stuff, I am a big fan of Haagen dazs and Ben and Jerry`s but you would not find me eating the run of the mill stuff. When I saw this in Asda on a trip there with my wife I thought why not try it, It is called extra special after all so it should not be run of the mill. Run of the mill it was not but I think more special then extra special. Asda extra special (as they call it) cookies and cream is a nice ice cream with a lovely creamy texture but it won't be rivalling Ben and Jerry`s or Haagen Dazs any time soon. The main reason for this is that it is a bit sickly and it seems to melt very quickly. It comes in a 1 litre ... Read the complete review
