I really love Gratin Dauphinoise but it's such a pain to make - slicing the potatoes as thin and yet as uniform as you can then having to wait while it bakes, so when I saw this readymade version in the refrigerator section of Asda today I thought it was worth a go. Extra Special Dauphinoise Potatoes come in a standard sized ready meal foil container with cardboard lid (like a takeaway box), with a cardboard sleeve over the top. There is an image of a casserole type dish of Gratin Dauphinoise on the front of the box (though the one I bought differed slightly from that shown).
