“ Manufacturer: Asda / Type: Marmalade „
When it comes to marmalade I'm really a fan of the stuff but like most people no matter how much I love my usual marmalade, from time to time I do gag to try something else which is why when I spotted this Asdas own offering of lime marmalade I felt compelled to try it out!
The jar is 454g and made from a clear glass with a green twist on/off lid to the top of it and on the front of the jar there is a label and on that label there is a photograph of some limes and I am told that it is Asda Fine Cut Lime Marmalade 'With thin zesty shreds' and that it is suitable for vegetarians and the size is stated (as I've listed already). To the sides of the jar other information listed includes ingredients and nutritional advice given and contact details for Asda. Simple looking jar but its informative enough.
The Lime Marmalade:
Well the marmalade is a very light green colour and a bit like gloppy jelly with visible shreds of thinly cut lime peel scattered throughout it. As soon as you open up the jar you get hit with a really zesty and sweet smell of limes. This spreads well and doesn't melt too badly and you do get a lot of the shreds within it per serving as there are so many within it.
Taste wise this is lime tasting, as you would expect it to be. It is rather sweet but in an entirely natural tasting way and with no nasty artificially tastes to it at all. As well as being sweet it is rather sharp (when you eat the shreds) but them shreds also have a slight bitter taste to them too!
All in all, flavour-wise this is a well rounded and interesting marmalade that I have no complaints about at all for once! Store it in the fridge to help it keep its 'body' and once its opened use it up within 6 weeks!
