Advantages: Cheap and delicious
Disadvantages: Could be a bit too fizzy for some people
Once again it is a bag of Asda's children's sweets that I am going to review. The bag in particular is Fizzy Strawberry Wands, which like most of the Asda Brand sweets are really, really nice.
The sweets come in a 75g bag and cost 38p but can be bought with any other 2 bags of Asda's sweets in this range for £1, making them even better value for money. The bag in question is quite funky it has a green top and then a purple and pink band around the centre with the words Fizzy Strawberry Wands on it in lime green and white. There is also a picture of one of the strawberry wands on the front as well as some purple sides and the information that the sweets are suitable for vegetarians and are free from artificial colours and flavourings.
The nutritional information for this product is on the back of the packet and is as follows. 100g of the sweets contain...
Calories - 347 (260.3 in one bag)
Protein - 0.7g (0.53g in one bag)
Carbohydrates - 84.5g (63.4g in one bag)
Of which sugars - 49.8g (37.4g in one bag)
Fat - 0.3g (0.23g in one bag)
OK so they're not magic like my title may suggest and the imaging on the packet but they are lip-smackingly delicious. On opening the bag there is quite a sweet sugary smell as well as a strawberry aroma. This smell is certainly not sickly and definitely inviting. The pack contains 12 strawberry wands, so good value for money, which are red in colour and coated in a fizzy sugar.
The sweets are relatively chewy but not too tough and are extremely fizzy, so are not suited for those who aren't too fond of sour sweets. For me they were brilliant as I really like sweets that are so sour they make your eyes water. These didn't make my eyes water but were still sour enough to make your tongue tingle. The strawberry taste was very apparent from the first bite and remained in your mouth after the sweet had been eaten, which I really enjoyed.
All things considered I think these sweets offer an excellent value for money. The pack size means they can easily be concealed in a handbag or pocket and are perfect for children as the fat content is low and the sugar content in my open acceptable for such a sweet. Better still for you they don't cost a fortune and so will keep most children contented without costing you the earth. Another highly recommended Asda brand sweet.
Summary: Another cracker from Asda
