Sugary and Sour sweets... can't taste the strawberry though! (Asda Fizzy Strawberry Wands)

Advantages: I like the taste, certainly fixes my sweet cravings.

Disadvantages: VERY sugary and quite a few calories, def. a once in a while treat.

I love chocolate, but I also love my sweets just as much. I came across these sweets when shopping in the Asda next to the cinema I go, rather than pay the extortionate prices for the pick 'n' mix in the cinema foyer!

Asda do lots of different types of sweets in this range, from cola bottles to sherbet spaceships, there's something for everyone. They are 38p a bag, or you can get 3 bags for £1.

I notice DooYoo don't have a picture for these sweets but they're easily noticeable. The packaging is a bright pinky red and green with the bold letters stating Fizzy Strawberry Wands. In the top right corner it tells us that they're free from artificial colours and flavourings and they're suitable for vegetarians.

Now, to be honest these are called 'Strawberry flavoured' but I can't smell or taste too much of a strawberry taste, it's more of a sour taste. It's not an unpleasant taste, just very sweet and sugary. When reading the ingredients these sweets actually contain Apple Juice from Concentrate (11%) and Fruit and Vegetable concentrates [Blackcurrant, Carrot.] THere's actually nothing related to strawberries at all in the ingredients list, so it's no the wonder they don't taste too much of strawberries! However I'm not complaining, as I love these sweets and get addicted to them.

They contain 260 calories per bag, and nil saturated fats. Now of coruse they are very sugary sweets, containing 37.4g of sugar per bag! Bearing in mind the bag as a whole weighs 70g this is just over half. Obviously these are to be had has a once in a while treat, but it's hard to tell myself that sometimes ;)

Summary: Nice sweets for a right bargain price.
