Just before I move onto chatting about Asda'a jam doughnuts I wondered how many of you had heard the news on the radio this morning, it appears that all of the major supermarkets are running price wars in order to gain Christmas custom - Good tidings for all of us ! In the last couple of weeks I have had a few emails from Asda offering free delivery, I wonder which goods they have tacked a penny or two onto to cover the cost of that offer ( call me Old cynic if you like !) Although I am not head over heels in love with doughnuts (good job really as that would be a strange thing!), I do like one every now and again. I broke the rule of the weekend 'munchies' in our house today when I had an asda shop arrive. These doughnuts came and although I initially ordered them for the boys as a bit of a treat, I found myself delving into the bag and eating one myself. These doughnuts cost me 50p for a bag of five which I thought was really good as they are freshly baked on the premises. I rate Asda as being the cheapest out of the 3 local supermarkets near to my house. Those being: Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda. However I do wish that cheap didn't always mean rubbish and in many cases in Asda this isn't the case, but when it comes to the bakery it is very hit and miss. The jam doughnuts come in a bag of 5 and cost £0.65 usually but are on sale at the moment for £0.50, and while I think this is good value, I would not buy these again, in fact, I wouldn't eat one again even if it were free.
