Watered Down Korma!! (Asda Good For You Chicken Korma)

Advantages: The price!

Disadvantages: It lacked flavour and the creamyness I'm used to!

As theres recently been an Asda open up near me I've been trying out alot of their products. I'm more a 'convenience girl' when it comes to my food, I like it done quick and easy - which is a little hard at the moment after years of stuffing my face with beast sized meals I am now struggling to manage my portion sizes. I decided to check out Asdas range of microwave meals, not the healthiest I know but they were a portion in itself that was less than half of what I'd normally eat, one step at a time eh!

It was in the freezers I came across Asda's good for you range of frozen meals each costing just £1 each. I picked up a box of Asda Good For You Chicken Kormal, a classic, mildly spiced curry with chicken breast in a creamy coconut and tomato sauce served with long grain rice. The box it comes in is a lightly coloured, pale yellow with Asda Good For You proudly shown in the corner, as well as the £1 price tag in the other. The box boasts that the meal contains less than 3% fat and has no hidden 'nasties. The meal contains No artificial colours or flavours and no hydrogenated fat.

The korma comes in a small and shallow black microwaveable tray but you can also cook it in the oven. The meal contains;
405 calories
6.8g fat
4.0g saturated fat
1.6g salt equivalent

The rice I have to say was the nicest part about the dish, as plain as rice is it was fluffy and light and although completely tasteless it was the best part of the meal. The curry sauce was the colour I'd expect a pale mustardy sort of colour, it looked fairly thick but it didn't taste how I'd expected nor how it looked. It began tasting sort of thick, but I soon realised it was actually very thin. There were about three pieces of chicken, which was disapointing as they were not too bad for a microwaveable meal. The sauce had a slight coconut taste but it was more a watered down version of a korma, it lacked it's creamyness and flavour that I love about a korma, it was unfortunately very weak, bland and thin and offered me nothing. I know I only paid a £1 for this but it was a £1 wasted as I couldn't bring myself to eat the whole tray, and that's saying something for me because I love my food. It was just watery, thin and didn't offer much flavourwise. I expected a creamyness to it, tasty and enjoyable but it was boring, a little sweet from the coconut now and then and I managed to chew on about 3 pieces of chicken.

Summary: A bland and tasteless watered down korma for just £1!
