... the box, I was met by my second surprise - the slices are absolutely tiny! As I said, it's a while since I had the Mr Kipling version, so I can't remember exactly, but I'm sure they were bigger than these! Other than being small, the cakes look really quite appetising. They are a light, lemon flavoured sponge, topped with a lemon flavoured glace icing and of course have that layer of lemon curd in the middle. A while ago I had tried Mr Kipling's Iced lemon slices when at a friends house. I remember liking them, and when shopping online recently, I noticed that ASDA make their own version, so added a box to my virtual basket. When the pack arrived, I looked at the front of the box and saw from the picture that these slices have a sort of yellow gooey layer in the middle. I obviously hadn't checked the description properly, as it seems this yellowy layer is actually a layer of lemon curd. While I do actually like lemon curd, I normally only eat it in lemon curd tarts, and wasn't sure how well it would go in the middle of a cake like this. I know that, had I seen ...
