Advantages: Taste nice, remind me of childhood
Disadvantages: Nothing really, obviously the calories, but then they're sweets....
I think my sweet tooth must be returning to me, because lately, whenever I go into a shop or garage or supermarket, I can't seem to leave without picking up a bag of sweets. I suppose Halloween you have an excuse, what with trick or treat, and now the buildup for Christmas is foremost on people's minds, sweet season is here!
Asda do this quirky little product. I don't usually go to Asda, but we were near one visiting a relative and popped in briefly for something to eat. They have 95g bags of these milk bottles for 36p or you can get 3 for a pound (barely a saving but the pennies all mount up, I suppose).
These are those chewy little white sweets shaped like milk bottles. They do actually contain milk, albeit a powdered and condensed sweetened version of it, with the main ingredients really being the glucose syrup and the sugar.
They taste really nice, and they can last for quite a while in your mouth. They don't have too sweet a taste in comparison to other sweets, and the taste isn't overwhelmingly sweet either. I can't really tell the difference between these and any other time I have had milk bottles as a sweet, so I can't really compare to other types. They taste the same. The bag will give you around the 300 calory mark, if you're doing the counting, although eating sweets such as these as part of a calory controlled diet probably isn't the most advisable thing to do.
I liked having these sweets. They're still not my favourite, but they're nice enough, and they don't cost much for a decent sized bag. Recommended.
